SUCKLED CALVES – 94
On Thursday 22nd October we held the earlier re-arranged suckled calf sale at Hopes of Wigton alongside the fortnightly sale of store cattle.
The pre-sale Show was in the very capable hands of Mr William Miller, High Aketon Farm, Fletchertown who was faced with a tremendous run of sucklers but he whittled his way through the cattle forward to award his Champion rosette to the first placed bullock from the Peile team from Greystoke Castle and the Reserve ticket being awarded to a lovely sweet heifer from Liam and Keiran from the Scotts at High Brackenthwaite.

STORE CATTLE – 452
Following on from the sucklers saw the fortnightly sale of Store Cattle take place with a brilliant show of 452 stores entered. Rob Baird of Wampool consigned his usual goods with a brilliant homebred Angus bullock taking the top spot for the second consecutive sale topping at £2840 and later securing the top average of the day at a whooping £2710.
