Art-Partners Project:

Who says travelling is stressful? ✈️ Airport lounges can transform journeying from place to place into pleasant and enjoyable experiences, offering passengers respite. Seeing wonderful Art 🖼️ at airport lounges is even better, introducing international travellers to the artistic heritage and contemporary creativity of the region they are visiting! With our network of artists and galleries in the United States, Art-Partners had the pleasure of curating a selection of artworks for the Plaza Premium Lounge at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport in Texas. Presented across a diverse range of styles and mediums, the art collection elevated the environment of the lounge, not only transforming it into a calming and art-filled sanctuary, but also showcasing talent from the culturally-diverse southern state. Artists include Felix Benton (Image 4), Riley Holloway (Image 6), Patricia Murphy (Image 7), Laura Wilson (Image 8-9), and Zeke Williams (Image 10); with featured artist Han Cao producing a specially-commissioned ‘boarding pass’ series with her unique embroidery (Images 1-4).

Art-Partners Spotlight:

Special thanks to He Art Museum (HEM) and Museum Director Shaw Shu for hosting our Art-Partners recent visit. Designed by renowned architect Tadao Ando, the museum is a cultural landmark of minimalist geometry and Asian zen philosophy. When we visited, we saw an impressive outdoor sculpture selection featuring Annie Morris, Julian Opie, Bernar Venet and Kimsooja, amongst others. Inside, aside from admiring the famous double-helix staircase with an Olafur Eliasson kinetic sculpture, we enjoyed the various programmes that placed an emphasis on cultural exchanges and new media installations.

We were particularly awed by Hong Kong artist Leelee Chan’s exhibition - ‘Hybrid Palimpsests’, her first museum solo! The title borrows from the term palimpsest, which references surfaces that have been written on, erased, and rewritten. Her organically-futuristic sculptures explore themes of metamorphosis and transformation. We were thrilled she joined us on our visit.

Next, Chinese-French artist Yan Pei-Ming’s presentation creates a powerful narrative tension, featuring his monochromatic iconic self-portraits and depictions of animals. They symbolise the duality of his practice - public persona vs. private origins.

Finally, Danish artist Per Kirkeby’s exhibition invites viewers to journey through nature, geology, and artistic systems. From painted landscapes to monumental brick sculptures, his works forge richly-layered dialogues.

Art-Partners Recommends:

Art Week may have come and gone in Hong Kong, but there’re still some fantastic institutional exhibitions that are ongoing and not-to-be-missed! Here are 3 that you should definitely visit before they close this summer:

‘Lee Bul: From 1998 to Now’
📍 M+
🗓️ 14th March - 9th August, 2026

Lee Bu’s exhibition offers both a broad overview and a deeper understanding of the renowned Korean contemporary artist’s visionary scope and multi-disciplinary practice. Exploring the endless cycle of hopes and inevitable failures that have played a part in human progress, the artist also reflects on the fundamentals of human existence.
(Images 1-3)

‘Hung Hsien: Between Worlds’
📍 Asia Society HK Center
🗓️ 25th March – 21st June, 2026

Hung Hsien’s presentation features the artist’s profound legacy and pioneering spirit. It focuses on how that artist developed a unique artistic language that fuses the technical mastery of traditional Chinese ink painting with the expressive energy of Western abstraction.
(Images 4-6)

‘Jeremy’s Bathhouse’ by Chan Wai Lap
📍 Oi!
🗓️ 19th March - 30th August, 2026

The immersive installation blurs reality and imagination - a fun take on space, culture, and perception! Inspired by bathing cultures across time and place, the show dissolves public and private boundaries - exploring the bathhouse as a space for purification, self-discovery, and social connection.

Art-Partners Spotlight:

Our heartfelt congratulations to Kingsley Ng and Angel Hui for representing Hong Kong at the 61st Venice Biennale, which just opened last week! Named ‘Fermata: Hong Kong in Venice’, their light and sound exhibition at the Hong Kong Pavilion adopts the musical symbol ‘fermata’ as its theme to engage in a dialogue with the curatorial theme of ‘In Minor Keys’. The presentation explores the poetic rhythms of everyday life, capturing fleeting moments illuminated by shimmers of light and the recurring flow of urban existence. Our Art-Partners team has worked closely with both Kingsley and Angel before, featuring them in the Peninsula Hotel’s ‘Art in Resonance’ programme for HK Art Week. We’re thrilled for them to be in the international spotlight!

Art-Partners Project:

Catch this immersive interactive exhibition while you still can! Tech artist Henry Chu’s exhibition is structured around three dialogues, each corresponding to a season - ‘Asking Ecology’, ‘Asking Geography’, and ‘Asking Humanity’. Using virtual piano keys projected on the walls, visitors pose questions to the forest, which responds in real time with generative visuals and soundscapes by musician Lewis Chung. The artist’s signature approach is evident in each keystroke’s unique response: Spring’s shifting weather in New Zealand; Summer’s urban echoes in Hong Kong; Autumn’s rebirth of plant forms and calligraphy in Austria; Winter’s calming stillness in Yakushima. With pine needles layered on the ground, the multisensory approach evokes the forest’s scent and texture, engaging sight, sound, touch, and smell.

A Hong Kong‑based tech artist, represented by Ora Ora, whose works have been exhibited at MoMA New York and M+ Hong Kong, Henry Chu ensures that every visit is unique, inviting audiences to experience time and life’s harmony through the dialogue between piano and nature.

‘Piano in the Woods: Three Dialogues of the Four Seasons’

Art-Partners Project:

Shout out to our two fabulous Hong Kong artists who participated in the inaugural edition of the Edible Art Fair - Frog King and Angela Yuen.

Representing the New Ink Movement in the ‘Frogtopia’ gallery, Frog King’s art practice is not a preserved object but a living event! The playground is the gallery, the material is the present moment, and the only prerequisite for participation is a willingness to engage. He makes every encounter a unique and joyful fusion of chaos, connection, and creative liberation!

Angela Yuen’s gallery ‘The Magic Makers’ draws from her signature practice of transforming collected found objects into a poetic narrative of Hong Kong - uncovering human warmth in manufactured relics, from classic toys to electronic parts. As a ‘magician’ for urban memory, Yuen weaves together fragments from different decades, creating a sensory time capsule that honours Hong Kong’s unique history, while shaping its evolving identity.

Taking place from 26th March - 5th April at the Central Harbourfront, the Edible Art Fair was a huge success, covered by nearly 1,700 publications including Tatler Asia, SCMP, Bloomberg HK, and HypeBeast, shifting art engagement from interpretation to participation through sight, taste, and touch.
