Sometimes a short conversation opens the door to bigger possibilities.

Had the opportunity to interact with H.E. Ms. ចម និម្មល Cham Nimul, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce of Cambodia, and discuss emerging trade opportunities between India and Cambodia.

Our discussion focused on emerging opportunities between Indian exporters and the Cambodian market, and how stronger trade collaboration can benefit businesses on both sides.

India and Cambodia share strong historical and economic ties, yet the full potential of bilateral trade is still waiting to be unlocked. With growing demand in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, machinery, food processing, textiles and engineering goods, Cambodia presents an interesting opportunity for Indian exporters looking at Southeast Asia.

Conversations like these reinforce an important point.
Global trade is evolving, and new markets are opening up for Indian businesses willing to explore them.

For many in the import-export industry, entering new markets isn’t about ambition.

▪ It’s about friction.
▪ High duties.
▪ Tight margins.
▪ Unfamiliar compliance.
And the constant question, is the effort worth it?

This is why many Indian exporters, across experience levels, hesitate to explore markets like Australia.
That context matters when we look at this update.

From 1 January 2026, Australia will provide duty-free access to all Indian exports under the India–Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA).

Why does this matter?
▪ For new exporters, duty-free access reduces pricing pressure and lowers entry barriers.
▪ For growing businesses, it improves margin visibility and planning.
▪ For established exporters, it offers a structured way to diversify markets.
▪ For importers and buyers, it increases access to competitively priced Indian goods.

This doesn’t eliminate all challenges.
Documentation, compliance, and ex*****on still require attention.
But it does remove one of the most significant constraints in cross-border trade, tariff uncertainty.

At a time when exporters are actively looking to rebalance risk and explore reliable markets, Australia becomes a practical option worth evaluating, not just a theoretical one.

This economic cooperation has the potential to strengthen trade between India and Australia, provided stakeholders are prepared to engage with it thoughtfully.

The Regional Industry Summit 2025 made one thing clear: Europe is an opportunity only if we simplify the path.

For 24thmile, participating in the summit hosted by the Indo-German (IGCC) and Indo-French Chambers of Commerce (IFCCI) at Hyatt, Pune came at the right time.
Now that we are registered in Germany, it was important to understand what Indian exporters really face when they try to work with European partners.

The conversations around AI, the EU market outlook and the India–EU Free Trade Agreements highlighted one simple truth. Exporters are ready for Europe. What slows them down is the process. Documentation, compliance and unfamiliar systems continue to create avoidable friction.
Solving these gaps is exactly what we are building for at 24thmile.

I also met V. Lakshmikumaran, lawyer at the Supreme Court of India, who plays a key role in India’s FTA work. His decision to contribute to this effort purely on a non-profit basis was remarkable and deeply motivating.

Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar’s talk on “More From Less for More” added another layer of clarity. His examples of frugal, scalable innovation were a reminder that real progress happens only when technology is accessible to everyone, not just a few.

This summit helped us understand what Europe expects and what Indian exporters need. It strengthened our belief that with the right support, global trade can be simpler, faster and far more inclusive.

The past week brought an unexpected but meaningful gesture of support. Several local newspapers highlighted the Confederation of Indian Industry Business Delegation's visit to Israel and featured moments from the interactions with the Honourable Commerce and Industry Minister of India, Mr Piyush Goyal.

I am grateful for this coverage and for the acknowledgement of the work we are building at 24thmile. The intent has always been to strengthen India’s export ecosystem, and this recognition reinforces the responsibility to keep improving and keep contributing.

Where clarity replaced comfort and certainty.

The Confederation of Indian Industry Business Delegation to Israel on 20 and 21 November 2025 was a defining professional experience. Meeting the Honourable Commerce and Industry Minister of India, Mr Piyush Goyal, and Israel’s Commerce Minister, Mr Nir Barkat - ניר ברקת, in Tel Aviv brought the conversation closer to where India’s export ambitions truly stand.

But what struck me much deeper was Israel itself. A nation with limited natural resources, surrounded by uncertainty, has created one of the world’s most advanced innovation ecosystems.
Their progress is not an accident. It is intention, discipline and relentless ex*****on.

As someone who built 24thmile from ground zero, I have always believed in creating systems that simplify and strengthen India’s export landscape. But Israel compelled me to reflect on the difference between building a company and building a capability for the country.

I realised that the work we have done so far is only the beginning. The scale of transformation required in export documentation, compliance and global connectivity demands a larger vision and a deeper commitment.

This delegation reminded me that progress cannot be incremental. It has to be decisive.

The inspiration I bring back is not emotional. It is structural.
India has the talent, the ambition and the market. What we need now is the precision, innovation and urgency that define the Israeli approach.

The next chapter for 24thMile will be built with this clarity.

It was an honor to meet the Commerce Minister of India, Shri Piyush Goyal ji, at the Confederation of Indian Industry's 29th Partnership Summit while representing 24th.mile.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the Government of India have supported this summit for the last 29 years.

In spite of global challenges, the Indian economy continues to flourish at a solid pace of 8.2%*, positioning itself as the fastest-growing major economy in the world. No wonder CII's Partnership Summit is a multinational event with thousands of delegates representing their businesses.
