Startup on stage: SMUSH Materials. An innovative company transforming
agricultural by-products into high-performance, compostable, and circular
packaging solutions through mycelium-based technology. Designed to
replace single-use plastics in industrial applications, SMUSH Materials is
paving the way for a more sustainable and regenerative packaging industry.

DESIGNTECH LAUNCHES THE AI ADOPTION HUB

This week we launched the new Designtech AI Adoption Hub, an initiative created to support companies and organisations in the strategic adoption of AI and to foster the evolution of Made in Italy during a period of profound transformation.

Technology does not decide the future. The people who govern it do. AI creates value only when it is strategically guided, embedded into real business processes, and transformed into new entrepreneurial capabilities. 🚀

The launch of the AI Adoption Hub took place during Demo Day, the closing ceremony of the second edition of our accelerator, Design Momentum, during which the eight participants - BiomimX, D’Alesio&Santoro, Framis Italia, Isola Design, Metis, Northern Light Composites, Orsini, and Studio Auriga - presented the Proofs of Concept developed throughout the program, demonstrating how ideas, research, and experimentation can be transformed into concrete market-ready solutions.

A special thank you to all the startups and SMEs involved, as well as to the partners, mentors, investors, corporates, and stakeholders who contributed to the success of this second edition.

Special thanks also to Regione Lombardia, which, through the PR ERDF 2021–2027 funds, co-financed Design Momentum.

✨ Ogni grande innovazione nasce quando iniziamo a guardare qualcosa di familiare da una prospettiva completamente nuova. Anche la luce.
Durante “Luce oltre il pianeta Terra” abbiamo esplorato come la luce possa diventare una tecnologia capace di influenzare benessere, adattamento umano e abitabilità, dagli ambienti estremi sulla Terra fino alle future missioni spaziali.
Un confronto che ha messo in dialogo ricerca scientifica, progettazione e innovazione, aprendo nuove prospettive sul ruolo della luce nel disegnare gli habitat del futuro.
Un grazie a Stefania De Pascale, Giorgio Boscheri, Piero Santoro e L. Emil Abirascid per aver condiviso competenze, esperienze e visioni.

Presenting Designtech’s Community.

We are proud to introduce our resident members: Isola Design, Materially, R3plica, D-house laboratorio urbano, Genethic, Sidustech, Puntozero, Garc Ambiente, Sensecatch, Coherency and Aura System.

On Friday the 22nd, we came together for an intimate gathering where each resident had the opportunity to present their team, vision, and work to the rest of the community.
A meaningful moment of exchange, connection, and shared inspiration — the kind that reminds us that innovation grows stronger when ideas, people, and experiences come together.

Another voice from the Creative Residence
Coordinated by POLI.design, this experience brought together Designtech and Unitedworld Institute of Design in a dynamic exchange of ideas, creativity, and collaboration.
Thanks to the support of resident members D-house laboratorio urbano, Puntozero, and Isola Design, students had the opportunity to engage with different approaches and disciplines throughout the workshops.

Today we share another perspective from a student of Unitedworld Institute of Design who participated in the Creative Residence coordinated by POLI.design.
The initiative connected students, professionals, and resident members including D-house laboratorio urbano, Puntozero, and Isola Design in a multidisciplinary environment of experimentation and exchange.

What happens when advanced manufacturing, circular economy and design come together in the same space? ♻️

On March 30th, we hosted a workshop at CoFactory dedicated to RIGENER-AM, the project funded by Regione Lombardia through PR FESR 2021–2027 resources, co-funded by the European Union and created to transform metal waste from the automotive industry and textile by-products into advanced materials for additive manufacturing.

A day of exchange, ideas and cross-contamination between professionals, designers, companies and stakeholders to explore new applications across fashion, furniture and interior design, imagining together more circular, responsible and innovative production chains.

Special thanks to the workshop facilitators from D-house laboratorio urbano and from Materially. And thanks to all participants from ACBC, Albini Group, Kilometro Rosso and Caracol for contributing to such an inspiring exchange of visions and expertise.

We’ll continue sharing more about RIGENER-AM soon, diving deeper into the project’s goals and Designtech’s role in developing new applications across design, materials and advanced manufacturing.
