LA RIABILITAZIONE REPUTAZIONALE ATTRAVERSO IL CINEMA…IL CASO MICHAEL JACKSON…
Ho visto il film di uno degli idoli della mia adolescenza l’eterno Michael Jackson. Mi hanno colpito 2 aspetti:
- la riabilitazione attraverso il cinema: il film è la celebrazione di un genio musicale, ma anche la riscoperta dell'uomo colpito da processi mediatici, processi culminati in assoluzioni. Un film puo’ quindi avere il potere di "ripulire la lente" attraverso cui guardiamo il passato. Mentre i processi si celebrano nelle aule, la reputazione si gioca nell'immaginario collettivo. Il film ha mostrato Michael come una vittima della sua stessa generosità e ingenuità dove il cinema compie un atto di “giustizia poetica”
- Il porto sicuro: la madre. Bellissimo il legame indissolubile tra Michael e sua madre dolce ed amorevole. In un mondo che chiedeva sempre di più a un bambino prodigio, Katherine è stata la bussola morale e l'unico rifugio incondizionato. Il film evidenzia come Michael cercasse costantemente la sua approvazione, non per il successo, ma per ritrovare quel senso di famiglia e normalità che gli era stato strappato troppo presto. La mamma è stata l'ancora che lo ha tenuto a terra durante tutte le tempeste mediatiche
REBUILDING PERSONAL REPUTATION TROUGH A MOVIE…THE CASE OF MICHAEL JACKSON
I watched the movie about one of my teenage idols, the timeless Michael Jackson. Two aspects to highlight:
- Rehabilitation through a movie: the film is a celebration of a musical genius, but also a rediscovery of the man who was the subject of media trials—trials that culminated in acquittals. A movie can therefore have the power to “clean the lens” through which we view the past. While trials are held in courtrooms, reputation is played out in the collective imagination. The film portrayed Michael as a victim of his own generosity and naivety, where cinema performs an act of “poetic justice”
- The safe haven: his mother. The unbreakable bond between Michael and his sweet, loving mother is striking. In a world that demanded more and more from a child prodigy, Katherine was his moral compass and his only unconditional refuge. The film highlights how Michael constantly sought her approval, not for the sake of success, but to rediscover that sense of family and normality that had been torn from him too soon. His mother was the anchor that kept him grounded through all the media storms
