What an ADE 🖤
Thirty years of Amsterdam Dance Event, and an edition we won’t forget. It was a bit different than usual, especially for some of us: Manuela did the whole week on crutches!
What made us proudest this year was the range. On panel stages, Lady Starlight, Nastia, Nadia Struiwigh and Manuela shared what they know. In the clubs, Cravo, Dimitri, Lady Starlight, Mark Broom (The Fear Ratio with James Ruskin), Nadia Struiwigh, Nastia, Parallel 9, Shaleen and Sterac kept the floors moving all week. In the Thomaskerk, Nadia’s ambient side was joined by Nastia’s ambient set and Steve Rachmad’s presentation of his album Light and Time and beyond. Steve (+Parallel 9) went out to the world on livestreams, and Vince Watson swapped the booth for the meeting table, building on 30 years of his own career and laying the ground for what comes next. Peak-time club floors, intimate listening sessions, panel talks and boardrooms: same family, many voices.
We were also over the moon to see 3voor12 name Mark Broom and James Ruskin’s The Fear Ratio set with STOOR, Paradiso, one of the 25 best sets of ADE, and Steve’s Coda set at LOFI the best set of the whole week. The thing that stays with us most, though, is the warm and wonderful reaction from everyone in the room. That’s what we do it for.
Thank you to every promoter, crew member and dancer who made it what it was. Thank you Amsterdam Dance Event team for creating the habitat for us all to mingle, exchange, grow, present, learn, bond, share and experience. See you next October 💛
