Leeston Road culvert upgrade: complete

Our Three Waters team delivered the Leeston Road culvert upgrade project for Selwyn District Council, contracted by CORDE, installing a new 2.5m wide, 1m deep, 12.4m long concrete box culvert with new headwalls and wingwalls to reduce flood risk and increase stormwater capacity at the site.

The existing culvert stayed live throughout construction, with dewatering and environmental requirements around the waterway managed alongside the build. Even a storm partway through the project didn't stop our team from delivering on time, and Leeston Road has since returned to normal use.

Today is Daffodil Day: a day to help bring hope and a brighter future for New Zealanders affected by cancer.

Cancer touches the lives of so many of us, whether personally or through the experience of family members, friends, colleagues, or loved ones. It's a chance to back the people in our community.

This year, we donated to support the Cancer Society's work. You can also donate at daffodilday.org.nz

The wheels have been turning since 1953. Throughout the decades, our trucks have been part of our day-to-day work, and Canterbury knows them by one thing above all: the green. It's a colour we've been running since 1981, and to this day it still stands out on the road and on site.

No two days look the same behind the wheel. Whether it's carrying fill for a subdivision, taking demolition material off a site, or a load straight out of the Waimakariri River, our trucks are on the move wherever the work is.

We're looking for a Heavy Haulage Driver to join our team.

For the last 70 years, we have been working on large-scale civil construction, three waters, and demolition projects throughout Canterbury, and we need someone to help us continue moving our heavy plant and equipment from A to B.

You'll need a Class 5 Licence (WTR & Forklift endorsements), current BESS, a clean driving record and heavy haulage experience, ideally in construction.

It’s been a journey. The demolition of the former Smiths City flagship site is now complete, wrapping up a complex project in the heart of Christchurch.

From soft strip and service isolations through to structural demolition and material separation, every stage was carried out with precision, control, and care.

Taggart is proud to have played our part in preparing this site for what comes next. Looking forward to seeing it take shape.

No two construction projects are ever the same.

Ground can be tricky, the weather can turn, access gets tight, and timeframes shift. That’s when experience really counts.

For more than 70 years, Taggart has been helping deliver projects across Canterbury by combining experienced people, practical problem solving and the ability to adapt when conditions get tough. Because keeping a project moving isn't always about having the biggest machine on site.

Sometimes it's about having the right people behind the controls.

Behind every machine, truck and project is a great team of people.

Taggart has been part of Canterbury for generations, and the people behind the work have always been the heart of the business.

From operators and drivers through to mechanics, project teams and office staff, it's their hard work, commitment and pride that keep projects moving every day.

We're proud to work alongside some of the best people in the industry.

What happens to the material that leaves our sites?

It's something more people are asking, and it's a good question. Where possible, we're always looking for opportunities to recycle, recover and reuse materials rather than sending them straight to landfill.

Every project is different, but finding practical ways to reduce waste and improve environmental outcomes is an important part of how we operate.

It's one of the reasons we're proud to hold EcoChoice accreditation and continue looking for smarter ways to deliver projects across Canterbury.

Less complexity. Better delivery.

One of the biggest challenges on large construction projects is keeping everyone moving in the same direction. At Taggart, we make that easier by offering a full range of services with our own team. From earthworks and drainage through to roading, demolition and haulage, our team can manage every stage of the project under one roof.

It means fewer moving parts, clearer communication and better outcomes for our clients. That's how we've been helping deliver Canterbury projects for more than 70 years.
