For generations, Filipino sailors and coastal communities have told stories of Santelmo, mysterious balls of fire said to appear above dark waters and deserted coastlines.

According to Philippine folklore, these eerie lights were believed to be wandering spirits, sometimes luring unsuspecting travelers into danger. Some associate these mysterious sightings with St. Elmo's Fire, a natural electrical phenomenon that creates glowing lights around ship masts during thunderstorms.
