BIR UPDATE | Compliance Deadline Extended to August 17, 2026
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has issued Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 89-2026, extending statutory tax deadlines to August 17, 2026 for taxpayers and Revenue District Offices (RDOs) affected by the severe rainfall brought by the Southwest Monsoon.
The extension covers affected areas in Metro Manila, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, CAR, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa, including designated RDOs, Large Taxpayer Audit Divisions, Excise Divisions, and Authorized Agent Banks.
What taxpayers should know:
• Covered taxpayers may avail of the extended filing and payment deadline until August 17, 2026.
• The extension applies to covered statutory tax deadlines affected by the severe weather conditions.
• If August 17 falls on a holiday or non-working day, filing and payment shall be made on the next working day.
Action for taxpayers and businesses:
Review your applicable RDO coverage and adjust your tax compliance schedules accordingly to avoid unnecessary penalties and ensure timely filing and payment.
