International Women’s Day always makes me reflect on the women who have shaped my life.

As a son, brother, husband, and father of daughters, supporting women isn’t an abstract idea for me; it’s deeply personal.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside remarkable leaders who are committed to advancing women in leadership.

Through my collaboration with Dr. Tanvi Gautam at the Singapore Management University Women and Leadership program and with Jessica Fontana at the Women Leaders Circle (WLC), I’ve had the opportunity to share insights on self-leadership with women ready to step fully into their potential.

The World needs more Women Leaders.
In the community, business, and especially in government.

Today, on International Women’s Day, I celebrate the women who lead, who lift others up, and who continue to break new ground.

And I remain committed to doing my part to support that journey.

In the 1968 movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, in the future, people eat their meals while staring at videos on portable flat screens.
An accurate future prediction, and in the next part of the movie, the AI takes over and kills everybody!

It is normal to fear what we don't understand, but when people fear, they freeze, and when leaders freeze, companies and cultures crumble, which is why I wrote 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹-𝗶𝘇𝗲: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗜 (Wiley, Jan 29th 2026).

The book provides a roadmap to thrive with AI by unlocking what makes us truly human. With insights, stories, case studies, and the IGNITE framework for implementation, this is a must-read for any leader seeking to unlock potential, maximize performance, and inspire excellence.

You can pre-order the book now (link in the first comments), or book me for a speech or masterclass for your organization. Just DM me for details.

What can we learn about adversity from Aaron Phipps MBE PLY?
I had a candid conversation with Aaron in Episode 03 of my Potential-ize Podcast. He shared a powerful frame:

Picture this: Tourist-packed streets, restaurant owners shoving menus in our faces every few steps. "Buy my product!" "Use my service!" Sound familiar?

It's the same aggressive pitch flooding our LinkedIn inboxes daily.

My son, Nathan, who already has customer service experience despite his young age, was repulsed by the invasion of personal space and complete disregard for our actual needs. We avoided every restaurant that ignored our request for space to think.

Then one server changed everything with two simple questions:

"𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗿𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿?"

That's it. No pushing. No assumptions. Just genuine curiosity about our actual need and whether they could meet it.

This moment crystallized what's wrong with most sales approaches across every industry. We're so focused on our product that we forget to ask the fundamental questions that actually matter to our prospects.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻? Stop selling what you have. Start asking what they need.

Your turn: What's one question you could ask prospects that would shift from pushing your solution to understanding their problem?

𝗜𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗽 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴?

This "knowing-doing gap" is the silent killer of potential in individuals, teams, and entire organizations.

While researching my upcoming book Potential-ize (Wiley, out January 2026), I discovered a repeatable pattern across high-performing leaders and companies:

✅ They don’t just learn - they apply.
✅ They have a system to turn insight into action.
✅ They’ve built a culture where ex*****on is the norm.

That pattern became the IGNITE framework.
The framework became a program.
And that program is available now - long before the book hits shelves.

If you're tired of potential being just potential - let’s talk.

𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀: 𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆
Just before I headed to busy Dubai from my quiet beach town in Portugal, I was asked to give a speech on Leadership in times of Uncertainty and Ambiguity.

We are uncertain because we don't know how things will turn out, and the situation is ambiguous because we don't know what it means.

For uncertainty, we can plan and create 'what if' scenarios, but ambiguity requires creating a narrative, and this is where great leaders excel.

A technique I use when coaching leadership is to bring awareness to contrast.

Is it too hot or too cold?
Is it expensive or cheap?

To answer these questions, we must ask another question:
"Compared to what?"

Our minds need reference points and contrasts to make sense of things.

💡Courage is clear when it is referenced to cowardice and contrasted with foolhardiness.
💡Integrity is clear when it is referenced to corruption and contrasted with legalism.
💡Love is evident when it is contrasted to selfishness and referenced to enablement.

With the current geopolitical, technological, and economic shifts, it can be hard to chart a course, but it is these storms that reveal who the leaders are and who the followers are.

As a writer, speaker, and coach, my greatest challenge is staying relevant.

Do you agree with me that developing that ability to lead in Uncertainty and Ambiguity is highly relevant today?
