As we close out another year, I want to take a moment to say thank you.

To our clients: thank you for trusting us in high-stakes environments where details matter, discretion matters, and results matter. We don’t take that trust lightly—ever.

To our partners and collaborators: thank you for the teamwork, professionalism, and shared commitment to doing things the right way, even when the right way isn’t the easy way.

This year brought real challenges, real wins, and real lessons. Through it all, our mission stayed the same:
do the job correctly, protect people and property, and deliver work we’re proud to stand behind.

We’re grateful for every call, every referral, and every opportunity to serve. We’re heading into the new year sharper, more focused, and ready to raise the bar even higher.

From all of us at Doerner Investigations & K9 Detection—thank you for being part of our year. We look forward to working with you in the year ahead.

I’ve got a client in his late 50s who’s convinced he’s talking to a gorgeous woman online. Reality check: he’s being scammed. He’s already sent over $300,000.

✅ The “photos” are clearly AI-generated
✅ The name belongs to someone who passed away
✅ The phone number is a burner

I laid out everything, step-by-step. He still can’t accept it.

So here’s a question for the rest of you: what would it take for YOU to believe you were being scammed?

CAMARILLO MAN CONVICTED OF FRAUDULENT PAYROLL PRACTICES WHERE HE PAID HIMSELF OVER A HALF MILLION DOLLARS OVER SEVERAL YEARS:

The Ventura County District Attorney's Office issued the following statement. Mug shot posted by the VCDA in their statement.

"VENTURA, Calif. – Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today (September 29 of 2025) that James Matthew Godsey, of Camarillo, was convicted by a jury of six felony counts of grand theft.

The jury also found true all charged special allegations, including that Godsey caused an excessive loss of over $100,000 and that he took advantage of a position of trust or confidence to commit the crimes.

From 2015 to 2023, Godsey worked as a bookkeeper for Channel Islands Aviation, where he was responsible for processing payroll and handling accounts payable.

Between 2017 and 2023, evidence showed that he repeatedly inflated his own pay by adding unauthorized bonuses and extra wages. He also issued himself phony reimbursements for company expenses.

Over six years, Godsey stole over $527,000 from his employer. For years, the theft remained hidden because company leadership trusted him to perform his duties honestly and did not scrutinize his payroll records.

The scheme finally came to light after the company was sold and a new manager conducted an audit, uncovering the embezzlement.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Marc Leventhal, a member of the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office Special Prosecutions Fraud and Technology Crimes Unit, prosecuted the case.

“Employee embezzlement cases like this one are a reminder that trust without oversight creates opportunity for theft,” Mr. Leventhal said. “Employers should protect themselves by conducting regular internal audits and maintaining effective supervision over those who handle payroll and company funds.”

Godsey is scheduled to be sentenced on October 21, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. in courtroom 24 of the Ventura County Superior Court. He remains free on $10,000 bond pending sentencing."

Would you use this phone charger if you saw it in a café … ?
Before you answer, keep reading.
By using unkown chargers or USB points you may be a victim of Juice Jacking without even knowing it.

Hackers can leave chargers or tamper with public USB charging points in places like cafés, hotels, airports or train stations.

The moment you plug in, you think you’re charging your phone — but in reality, you could be giving cybercriminals direct access to your data. They can:

- Copy personal files, photos or contacts
- Steal login details and financial information
- Install malware that tracks your activity long after you unplug

It sounds far-fetched, but it happens more than you think. Something as innocent as topping up your battery in a public space can create a serious security risk.

🔒 How to stay safe:
- Always use your own charger and plug into a mains socket
- Carry a portable power bank for backup
- If you must use a public USB port, consider a USB “data blocker”

Cyber threats aren’t always sophisticated or high-tech — sometimes they’re hiding in plain sight, waiting for us to make a quick, convenient choice.

Stay alert. Protect your data.
