For the next week, create some small time blocks and let me know how it works for you.

Just take like 5 tasks that you know need to be done next week and create a block in your calendar (online or paper) and stick to that time block.

It's all about getting into a schedule. And with creating a schedule, you will become MORE productive! I promise!

Do you know how much time you spend on tasks? That little bit of information can help you with setting up your time blocks.

Let me guess, you keep track of client billable time, but not the time you work on your business. Most business owners don't track the time they spend working one their business.

Need a simple time tracker? I use my Quickbooks software! That way, all of my time is in one place AND I can easily create reports. If you already keep track of your client time in Quickbooks, this should be a no brainer.

Let me know if you do keep track of your time and if you do, what software you use.

I have several clients who time block. They schedule different blocks of tasks on their calendar to make sure things get done. The tasks times range from 20 minutes to 2 hours - it just depends on the task.

Doing a time block helps you focus on that ONE task and get that ONE task done completely (or at least make a big dent into it)!

Now, does that large 2 hour block include breaks? NO, but my client gets on a roll and doesn't need a break! So, know how you work and if you need a break every 30 minutes, 1 hour, whatever - and break down the time block.

When I first started my business, I networked ALL OF THE TIME. Seriously. I would go to at least 2 group meetings a week and then have multiple 1-2-1s also. And there was no blocked time for this. It was just when an opportunity came up or when it could be scheduled. This was great for getting my name out there and also to get comfortable networking since I had never done it before.

However, there's a point in your business where you have to limit the networking and work on your company. RIGHT?! The next step I did was I limited my networking days to 2x per week. NO EXCEPTIONS! It provided me with the time to get work done and grow my network too.

Guess what? This is TIME BLOCKING! There are so many different types of time blocking. Limiting networking to 2 days a week was a starting point for me. Now I have EVERY task listed in Google Calendar so that I make sure that it gets done AND there is time blocked to do it.

How do you manage your to do list?
