I can’t believe it’s only been four years! I helped found the LGBT+ Rotary International Fellowship and served some time on the board and as the President. Believe it or not, Rotary didn’t have any type of LGBT group or even a DEI board when we got started. I’m happy to say that’s not the case anymore. This is a picture of the first time we set up a booth at an international conference. I learned so many things working with people all over the world, made some great friends, and had so many moving experiences in my time with the organization. I’m proud that I was a part of the origin of this great group of people.

It’s 2026 then there is still so much work to do to embrace diversity in our society. I’m sad I’ve had to report so many hateful comments from my post about Athens Pride. I post about pride every year, but this year I’ve had to hide a lot of negative responses. It just shows where we are as a society right now and how people feel free to post mean things about other people enjoying their lives. As soon as there is some progress, we just go backwards. It feels like it never ends.

I posted a video of our local pride drag performance and Facebook turned it into multiple reels because of the length. Oops 😅. I guess we can’t have too many celebratory pride posts though, so we’re going with it. 😀🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride!
