Track allll of the hours you work!

Yes, that means the 5 minutes you spent responding to DMs this morning, the 15 minutes you'll spend following up with a customer or checking on an invoice later tonight, and all the random admin to-dos that pop up...

Use a time-tracking tool like Toggl or Clockify, or just keep a running tally in your Notes app. 📝

At the end of the month, divide your income by the total hours you worked to find out your effective hourly rate.

If you wouldn't take a job running a small business for that pay, that's your sign that something (price, services, expenses, etc.) needs to change. 🤨

Your time is one of your most valuable business assets. Make sure you know where it's going—and what it's actually worth. 💰

Individuals: Third installment of your 2026 estimated taxes

Partnerships: Extended Form 1065 + K-1s/K-3s, if applicable

S Corporations: Extended Form 1120-S + K-1s/K-3s, if applicable

Corporations: Third installment of your 2026 estimated taxes

Basically, no one is escaping this month unscathed by a tax deadline!

Don't get me wrong, a bank statement is a great start!

But all it really proves is that you spent money... it doesn't tell anyone what you spent that money for or if it truly was a business expense.

The IRS (and me, tbh) usually needs a little more context (like a receipt or invoice) that shares what you bought + that it was for your small business.
