It all started with a daycare pickup and a bead that almost got stuck in the wrong place – her daughter’s nose! 😨

When her daughter’s school banned individual hair beads after that mishap, Jen Zachery asked herself one simple question: how can I still make her hair cute? That question became Bead Barrette, a single snap-on piece designed to look like a row of beads, made to save moms time and turn hair braiding day into something fun. 💕

Customers love how easily each barrette snaps into place, and her assorted pack of about 20 barrettes lets you try all six colors. Less chore, more cute! ✨

We hear a lot of people say “RICE Center,” and we know, we know… it feels natural to add “Center” to the end of RICE, but it’s just RICE!

You can also call us the Russell Center, use our full name, Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs, or simply RICE. Any of these work!

This Sunday, we’re sitting down with RICE Stakeholder Chantel Powell, founder of — the family-focused natural hygiene brand that began with a problem right at home.

As a mom of three, Chantel was searching for a natural, kid-friendly deodorant that could keep up with her active son, Kam. When she couldn’t find what she was looking for, she created it herself. What started as a mom-made solution grew through word of mouth into a brand designed to help families stay fresh from the playground and beyond.

Chantel’s journey is a reminder of what entrepreneurship can look like when necessity, creativity and purpose meet opportunity. ✨
