We all want to feed the soil that feeds us—but we don't always know how. Wouldn't it be great to have a recipe for improving your soil?

Enter GUAC: Guidelines for Use and Application of Compost, which, like a recipe, provides the ingredients and instructions to create a soil suited for your needs. Want the recipe? Visit https://www.compostingcouncil.org/page/guidelines-use-application-compost

This is a fantastic opportunity to see what the guys at Lifetime Ag are up to. We've been out to their place and it's a great demonstration of the positive impact no-till practices can have.

RSVP by Dec 2 to 970-623-1316 or [email protected]

Come see covercrops, no-till, and soil health practices in action December 4!
Come out to Lynn Eby's farm in Loma 1:00 pm December 4 to see various covercrops and cash crops planted no-till in furrow irrigation. We will be taking a look at:
- No-till Alfalfa planted after wheat
- No-till Wheat (for grain) planted after silage corn
- No-till covercrop planted after silage corn (preparing to go back to corn in spring no-till)
- No-till covercrop planted after wheat (preparing to go to corn in spring no-till)

If you want to farm no-till without using livestock as a tool on your farm, this is a great chance to look at options for covercrops that cycle nutrients, fix nitrogen, and build soil health without producing tons of grazeable biomass.

Don't worry, for those who appreciate the cattle grazing side of soil health, we will finish up at Lowell King's farm and watch calves graze a diverse covercrop.

Bring boots and a shovel, we will be walking in fields and digging in the soil!

Location: 1675 13 Road
Date: December 4, 2025
Time: 1:00 pm

Please RSVP to Philip or Lowell by December 2 if you plan to attend.

Community Unites for Successful Adobe Badlands Clean-Up - Largest Turnout Yet

Delta County, CO — May 20, 2025 — Under sunny skies and with a strong sense of shared responsibility, 28 dedicated volunteers gathered on Saturday to participate in the largest Adobe Badlands clean-up to date. The effort brought together Delta County Commissioners and staff, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Delta Compost, Western Slope Outdoors Alliance, and numerous community organizations and residents, all committed to protecting and restoring public lands.

In just four hours, volunteers filled over 250 large industrial-sized trash bags with litter and removed approximately 40 cubic yards of waste, including beer bottles and caps, cans, bullet casings, old carpet, dog waste, household garbage, and more. An astounding 37 tires were also collected and will be properly disposed of. The BLM identified and flagged several hazardous sites for specialized cleanup, while volunteers focused on areas safe for community involvement.
