Here’s the part of business no one warns you about… cash flow is what determines if you last.

A lot of businesses don’t fail because they aren’t making money. They fail because they lack structure around how they manage it.

Money coming in doesn’t always mean money is available when you need it. That’s where things start to feel tight, stressful, and unpredictable.

If you’ve ever thought, “I’m making money… so why does my business still feel unstable?” this is exactly what that looks like.

The shift happens when you start tracking where your money is going and when it’s coming in.

Because staying in business isn’t just about earning. It’s about sustaining.

And cash flow has everything to do with that.

Making the shift from doing the work → running the business comes with a different set of financial decisions.

It’s not just about making money anymore. It’s about how you manage it, structure it, and use it to support growth.

If you’re in that transition, here are three questions worth considering:

• Are you paying yourself correctly?
• Is your current entity structure still the right fit?
• Are your spending decisions actually driving a return?

These are the kinds of things that don’t always feel urgent day-to-day, but can have a real impact on how sustainable your business becomes.

If tax season has you second-guessing your numbers, you're not alone.

This time of year tends to bring a lot of financial questions to the surface—is everything organized, were estimated payments were correct, is there anything that needs to be addressed before filing?

To help you make sense of it all, we’re hosting Are You Tax-Ready?, a virtual Financial Clarity Session and a safe space to ask your questions.

WHO THIS IS FOR:
Service-based business owners who:
→ Are generating consistent revenue (multi-six figures)
→ Feel successful but want a clearer understanding of their financial picture
→ Are you heading into tax season feeling nervous and unprepared
→ Want to understand what their numbers are really telling them

Think of it as a free mini tax consulting call to discuss your specific situation.

Spots are limited! If you’re interested, we just ask for a few details about your business first via the application link in bio.

A good accountant should make running your business feel clearer—not more complicated.

Working with your accountant should leave you feeling:
• Confident that your finances are being handled with care
• Informed about what’s happening in your business
• Supported when you’re making important decisions
• Reassured that there won’t be surprises when it comes to your taxes or finances

We believe the accounting experience should feel collaborative, proactive, and personalized to your business.

That’s why we take a high-touch, white-glove approach, working closely with service-based businesses and small teams to bring clarity to their finances as they grow.

If you're looking for a different kind of accounting relationship, we’d love to start the conversation.

This week marks 8 years of Little Fish Accounting, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to work alongside so many service-based businesses and small teams.

Through that experience, we’ve become intimately familiar with the financial challenges that arise as businesses grow — from pricing and hiring decisions to profit visibility and forecasting.

We’ve worked with a variety of service-based businesses — marketing and creative agencies, consultants, professional services firms, interior designers, law firms, and other small but growing teams. While the industries vary, many of the financial challenges look surprisingly similar.

The good news is that asking the right questions about your finances — like the ones we shared in this post — can help you spot these pitfalls earlier and make more confident decisions as your business evolves.

And if you’re looking for professional support navigating these kinds of decisions, you’re in luck — we’re currently accepting new clients 😉

If you manage multiple clients, you already know this truth: QuickBooks wasn’t built for firms.

We’ve spent years working around logins, disconnected tools, and limited firm-wide visibility just to get through the day.

Intuit Accountant Suite changes that.

It’s the first time Intuit has designed a platform around how accounting firms actually work — across clients, teams, and workflows at scale.

I break down what makes IAS such a meaningful shift and why it matters for us as firm owners in my latest blog.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re forcing small-business software to fit the complexity of firm life… you’re not alone.

For years, we’ve been adapting tools that weren’t really built for the way we as accountants work.

That’s why Intuit Accountant Suite feels like such a win.

It’s the first time Quickbooks has created a platform designed specifically for accounting firms, with workflows, visibility, and tools that match the scale we’re actually operating at.

In my latest blog, I break down what makes IAS such a meaningful step forward — a shift that finally gives us a solution built for how firms work

How many times have you gotten a panicked call from your client saying “Payroll’s due and there’s not enough in the account 😬 ”?

I’ve gotten that call more times than I can count. The issue was never that clients weren’t making enough money, it was that they couldn’t see where funds had already been spoken for.

Once we set them up on QuickBooks Bill Pay, everything changed. Bills got scheduled, outflows became predictable, and we finally had the data to help them plan ahead instead of being in reactive mode.

In my latest blog post, I share how QuickBooks Bill Pay changed the way we work—and the way our clients see us. bit.ly/4gjmpUQ

Tired of chasing vendor payments and putting out cash flow fires? We were too—until we standardized with QuickBooks Bill Pay.

What started as a simple tool to pay bills gave us clean data, clear cash flow forecasts, and the ability to move from transactional bookkeeping to true advisory services.

In my latest post, I share how QuickBooks Bill Pay helped us fix cash flow blind spots, simplify payments, and create the foundation for better client decisions.
