In the Fall of 2025, our Don’t Make Waste Bandera recycling team applied for a grant to make improvements at the central recycling facility in Bandera, TX ♻️

Thanks to the 2025 Our Texas, Our Future Grant from + , funding was awarded for the project, which included equipment upgrades and new signage at the central recycling station. After 6 months, we are excited to announce that these upgrades are now complete! 🎉🎉🎉

These improvements have enhanced the organization, efficiency, and safety of recycling operations for our volunteers—and they are very happy about this! 😊 The center is now more organized and user-friendly for our recycling customers. 👏👏👏I

If you have been recycling with us over the past year, you’ve probably noticed a big difference! 🤩👍👍

A huge thank-you to our volunteers, community partners, + for making this possible and for supporting sustainability efforts that benefit our entire rural community!🙏♻️🙏

Don’t Make Waste Bandera volunteers were honored by Bandera County commissioners for their 2025 recycling efforts, and 15 years of partnership with Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep Texas Recycling. Last year, DMWB collected 54 tons of recycling; and saved 793 trees, 85k kw hours, 365k gallons of water, 591 yards of landfill space, 465k pounds of air pollution, 238 barrels of oil, and an estimated $2,278 in landfill fees.
The volunteer group is also a finalist in the BEC Foundation Member Choice Award. Voting continues until May 22.

Last week on May 7, several of our recycling volunteers participated in the 6th Grade Field Trip hosted by the Bandera Soil and Water Conservation District. There was lots of animated discussion with the students about the “why, what, how, and where” of recycling ♻️ ♻️ ♻️
