Why Book Direct with Northern Lights Vacations?

A prospective guest recently contacted us to inquire about booking a property for 5 nights in July. The total cost, including rent, tax, and cleaning, amounted to $5100.00 through Airbnb. However, upon visiting our website, the guest discovered that the same property was available for just over $4300.00.

The disparity in pricing is due to Airbnb's 15.5% host fee, which is deducted from the host's earnings. Although Airbnb does not explicitly display this fee, hosts factor it into their pricing. When the guest inquired about the purpose of this fee, I explained that it primarily covers Airbnb's marketing efforts, which provide hosts with access to a vast audience of approximately 8 million listings and a company valued at over $80 billion.

The guest then asked about the potential drawbacks of booking directly with us. I assured them that the level of communication, cancellation policy, and service would remain unchanged, as we provide the same level of service regardless of the booking channel.

I must admit that I employ a similar strategy when searching for vacation rentals. I often use Airbnb or VRBO to find a property that meets my needs, and then conduct a Google search for the property's unique name or address to see if I can book it directly and save money. In my experience, there is always an option to book directly and enjoy a lower price.

Therefore, I highly recommend booking your stay directly with us. You will receive the same level of service while enjoying a lower price.
