Had a terrific time working with an Admin Team from Microsoft last week as part of an Escape and Engage event created and hosted by Reality Breaks Escape. I highly recommend this experience as a way for a team to come together for some fun while also learning about Behavior Styles. Special thanks to the team leader, Karin Calvo, and Brenda Luper from Reality Break Escapes for allowing me to be a part of it.

If you’ve used Behavior Style assessments before, there’s something new you’ll want to see.

We’re rolling out updated versions based on the new Behavior Style model we recently introduced—while still keeping the classic version available.

This short video gives you a quick overview of what’s changing.

Last week, I had the opportunity to present a virtual session on "Strategies for Managing Challenging Behaviors" as part of the Certified Community Leadership Practitioner (CCLP) program offered by the Association of Leadership Programs.

I want to express my gratitude to Jessie Baginski, Ph.D., Director of Programs, for the opportunity to present alongside John Yeager and Lyanh Ramirez Gentile on such an important and timely topic.

One of my favorite parts of my work is seeing those “light-bulb” moments 💡

You know the kind—when someone suddenly sees a new (or clearer) way to work with a colleague, lead their team, or approach a situation. Those moments are always inspiring.

Over the past few weeks, I had the chance to work with two teams from the Port of Bellingham—Maritime and Senior Leadership (pictured below). Both groups showed up fully, engaged in great conversations, and walked away with some powerful insights.

It’s a good reminder that even small shifts in how we understand ourselves and others can make a big difference in how we work together.

Have you had a recent “light-bulb” moment at work?

And a special thanks to Interim Executive Director Tiffany DeSimone for inviting me to work with the teams and to Aaron Bisson for the recommendation!

Over 40 years ago, we introduced our Behavior Style model to help people better understand patterns of behavior.

Since then, the model has evolved—but the core idea has remained the same: Behavior Styles are about how people behave, not who they are.

Today, we’re introducing one of the most meaningful updates we’ve made to that model.

These changes make the model clearer, more intuitive, and easier to apply—especially for people encountering it for the first time.

In this video, we will walk you through what’s new and why we made these changes.

We're interested to hear what stands out to you after you’ve seen it.

Have you ever learned a model in a workshop… and then struggled to remember the details later when you actually needed it?

That’s one of the reasons we created our Supplemental Quick Reference Card for the Behavior Style model — a simple tool people can keep nearby to quickly recall the key ideas when they need them.

We’ve recently updated and improved this card to make it clearer and even easier to use.

In this short video, we walk through the updated version and explain what’s changed.

If you use our Behavior Style assessments or materials, we think you’ll find this helpful.

Had a great time presenting a taste of Behavior Styles to my colleagues at Seattle Executives Association. I’m thankful to be part of this excellent community and for the chance to share a snapshot of the work I’m passionate about. Lively conversations, strong engagement, and yes — a few laughs, too. And it's always extra special when Vickie can join me.

We often react to challenging behavior as if we know what’s driving it. In this clip from a recent Strategies for Managing Challenging Behaviors presentation, I share a skill from a Navigating Conflict workshop that focuses on this natural instinct. When we check our assumptions about someone’s internal beliefs, thoughts, intentions, and feelings based on their external behavior, we reduce unproductive side-roads and create more space for clarity.
