Today, our Board of Directors recognized the remarkable leadership of our President & CEO, Thomas Kucharski, as he prepares to conclude an extraordinary 25-year tenure with our organization.

We’ll remember not just a world-class economic developer, but a leader whose impact will be felt across the eight counties of Western New York — and beyond — for generations.

One of Tom's guiding principles has always been that "economic development is a team sport,” and he’s lived that belief every day.

He’s also believed that InBN has never been about one person, and that Buffalo Niagara can compete – and win – on any stage.

As we look ahead, the InBN team (staff, investors, and partners) remain committed to carrying forward the collaborative vision and mission that Tom championed.

Buffalo Niagara’s 2026 momentum is already taking shape.

This year, Invest Buffalo Niagara has supported project wins representing 176 jobs and more than $259 million in capital investment across the region, with growth spanning advanced manufacturing, food and beverage production, precision machining, industrial technology, cross-border expansion, and supply chain-critical operations.

A Legacy of Leadership

For more than two decades, InBN President & CEO, Tom Kucharski, has been a respected leader in economic development. Not only in Buffalo Niagara, but across New York State and beyond. Through leadership roles with the New York State Economic Development Council, including Treasurer and Executive Committee member, Tom built a reputation for collaborative and visionary leadership.

In 2014, he was named NYSEDC Economic Developer of the Year. Last week, Tom received one of the organization’s highest honors: the NYSEDC Lifetime Achievement Award.

A well-deserved recognition for a career leaving a lasting difference. Congratulations, Tom!

Yesterday, members of the Invest Buffalo Niagara team spent a beautiful afternoon in Burlington, Ontario connecting with Canadian companies interested in growing their U.S. presence in Buffalo Niagara.

Our SVP, Matthew Hubacher, was joined by Sarah Larson and Cassidy Malough to present the business case for expanding to Western New York — highlighting the region’s strategic location, cross-border connectivity, talent, and cost advantages.

We were also proud to welcome guest speakers from PatCom Medical and AMDOR, who shared firsthand insights and experiences.

Adding even more value to the discussion, a group of Western New York lawyers, bankers, and accountants joined us to help answer real-world questions businesses face when considering U.S. expansion.
