This one is leading the shops “buck poll” as of now 👀 He is currently in the tanning process with 4 other early season studs. I’m excited to see what folks bring in next week! We got a call today about a drop off appointment for the weekend; possibly a new shop leader, we will see! Stay safe & hunt hard. Fleshing can get messy! When done properly, It will pave the road ahead for a long lasting product.
Prep work is critical to ensure a quality tan. Treat every skin with the care and respect it deserves, its legacy will live on for many generations. Once the hunter processes the hide it is critical to get it into the taxidermist or into the freezer. Hair slippage can occur fast. Bacteria will breakdown hair at the follicles causing the hair to effortlessly slip out of the dermis. Uncooled hides can slip as fast as an hour when temps are above 60 degrees. A quality replacement cape is not cheap, so take care of the one you have.
