The longer I’m in business, the more important one thing becomes to me:
Trust and asking questions are not opposites.

I can trust someone and still read the contract.

I can appreciate someone's expertise and still ask about qualifications, experience or what exactly is included in an offer.

And if I’m considering investing $5,000, $15,000 or $50,000, I think those questions become more reasonable — not less.

Yet somewhere in the business world, asking questions has sometimes become synonymous with being negative, skeptical or “difficult.”

I disagree.

After more than two decades in business, I’ve learned that good relationships can handle good questions.

In fact, they usually welcome them.

Because there’s a huge difference between:

“Don’t worry. Just trust me.”

and

“Ask me. I’ll happily explain.”

I know which one makes me feel more comfortable doing business.

Good questions build trust.

I used to think a great business event meant meeting lots of new people.

Today, I see it quite differently.

I don’t necessarily want to meet more people.

I want to meet the right people.

I’ve experienced rooms with lots of people where very little happened beyond the usual small talk.

And I’ve experienced small tables where one conversation changed an idea, created a collaboration or simply made you think differently.

That’s why I’m becoming much more interested in creating smaller, intentionally curated experiences myself.

Not:

How many people can we get into the room?

But:

Who should be around this table — and what might happen when we bring them together?

I think that’s a much more interesting question. 😊

There is one major advantage to being someone who constantly has new ideas:

Marry a software developer. 😂

Meet Markus.

My husband, and the person who has been listening to my:

“I have an idea…”

“What if we…?”

“This should be really easy to build…”

for quite a few years now. 😄

Usually, I see a problem from the business side and immediately start imagining how we could solve it.

Then Markus gets the fun job of explaining what is technically possible.

And, more importantly, why something I think should take two days might actually take two months, or longer. 😂

He’s a software developer and the technical brain behind c-rex.net, so while I bring the business perspective, ideas and problems I want to solve, he brings the knowledge to turn those ideas into actual technology.

It’s a pretty good combination.

And one I probably don’t give him enough public credit for.

So when I talk about the software “I’m building,” I should really correct myself.

We’re building it.

Although I reserve the right to continue starting conversations with:

“Markus… I have an idea.” 😇

The older I get — and the longer I’m in business — the less interested I become in simply knowing more people.

I’m much more interested in meeting the right people.
I’ve attended enough events, masterminds, retreats and business gatherings to know that the size of the room tells you very little about its value.

Sometimes one dinner conversation creates more than an entire conference.

Sometimes six women around a table create more trust, ideas and opportunity than 200 exchanged business cards ever could.

And sometimes you walk into a beautiful room and realize that what makes it special has almost nothing to do with the room itself.

It’s the people.
That’s something I want to carry much more consciously into Anima.
Not: How many people can we bring together?

But:
Who should meet each other?
Why these people?
Why this room?
Why now?

Because I believe the right people, in the right room, at the right moment can genuinely change what happens next.

And perhaps that is a very different definition of networking.

Working somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic today. 🌊

Is this life always easy? No.
Would I choose it again? Absolutely.

Freedom was never about working less for me.
It’s about being able to choose where and how I work. 🤍

I definitely never had “build AI software” on my career plan. 😄

Actually, I’m not sure I ever really had a career plan.

But I do have a habit of looking at things and thinking:

There must be an easier way to do this.

After years of working with entrepreneurs and businesses, I kept seeing how much time we spend researching, searching for information, putting pieces together and repeating the same tasks.

And because apparently I’m not very good at simply accepting “that’s how we do it,” I kept asking:

Couldn’t technology do some of this for us?

Eventually that question became:

What if we build it ourselves?

And that’s how I somehow found myself in the middle of developing AI software. 😊

I don’t want technology to replace the human part of business.

I want it to give us more time for it.

More time for ideas.
Conversations.
Relationships.
And the decisions that actually need us.

Not exactly where I expected this journey to take me.

But I’m really enjoying finding out where it goes next.

If you had asked me a few years ago what I do, the answer would have been pretty simple:

Business Coach.

Today? Not quite so simple anymore. 😊

I still love working with entrepreneurs, talking through ideas, questioning things and finding better ways forward.

But somewhere along the way I realized that not every challenge needs another coaching call.

Sometimes, we need better systems.

Things that save us time, take repetitive work off our plates and allow us to focus on the things humans are actually good at.

And that curiosity has led me into a completely new chapter: building software.

It might sound like quite a change.

To me, it actually doesn’t feel like one.

I’ve always loved looking at how things are done and asking:

Could we do this differently?

Could we make it easier?

Could we make it better?

Apparently, I’m still doing exactly that. Just with some new tools. 😊

A high price can be strategic. A random price is just expensive.

I believe in premium pricing. And I believe people are willing to invest significant amounts of money when they understand the value of what they’re buying.

But somewhere along the way, raising prices seems to have become confused with creating value.

They’re not the same thing.

As a Pricing Strategist with training and business experience in both Germany and the US, I’ve seen very different approaches to pricing.

But one principle works across markets:

A price needs a reason.

A strong price can reflect expertise, access, curation, personalization, convenience, a particular outcome or an exceptional experience.

What it cannot be is simply:

"It costs more because we want it to feel premium."

Especially with coaching, retreats, masterminds and other experience-based offers, much of the value isn’t tangible.

That makes trust part of the transaction — and creates responsibility on both sides.

The buyer should ask:

Is this worth it to me?

And the business should ask:

Are we actually creating the value our price implies?

There’s nothing wrong with an expensive offer.

But I think we should become much better at understanding why it’s expensive.

Because price itself is never proof of value.

Price is a number.

Value is what happens after someone says yes.

I’ve never been very good at staying in one box.

And maybe I don’t need to be.

I’ve been a life coach, a business coach, an entrepreneur, a strategist — and I’ve never stopped learning or being curious about what could be done differently.

Today, that curiosity has taken me somewhere new.

I still love working with entrepreneurs.

But I’m also building software.

Because sometimes the answer isn’t another coaching session.

Sometimes, it’s simply a better system.

And I’m really enjoying this next chapter. 🤍

Look beyond the label.

The older I get — and the more I invest in business experiences, retreats, programs and communities — the less impressed I am by words like:
Premium. Exclusive. Luxury. VIP. High-level.

Don't get me wrong. I love beautiful places, thoughtful details and extraordinary experiences.

But I've learned to ask another question:
What's actually behind the label?

Who created the offer?
What experience do they have?
What exactly am I paying for?
Who will actually be in the room?
What is included — and what isn't?

And do the reality and the promise still match?
Especially when we're talking about investments of several thousand dollars or more, asking these questions isn't being negative.

It's being responsible.

And there's another thing I've learned:

Pay attention to how people react when you ask reasonable questions.
That response can sometimes tell you as much as the answer itself.

I don't believe every investment needs an immediate financial ROI. A wonderful conversation, a new relationship, inspiration or simply having space to think can be incredibly valuable.

But there should be value.
Because a beautiful label can create desire.

It cannot create substance.
The higher the investment, the more the details matter.
