The Meet n’ Eat group enjoyed a wonderful June Meet n’ Eat at Seasoning Bistro in Marion. With great food, plenty of laughter, and a private dining space all to ourselves, it was an afternoon well spent among friends.

Nearly 50 women gathered for the SIU Women’s Club Winter Meeting on Friday at the Gower Translational Research Center — and it was the perfect way to welcome the new year together.

From the moment check-in began, the room was filled with conversation, laughter and that unmistakable Saluki spirit. Members and prospective members pulled up chairs, reconnected with friends and made new connections over a delicious lunch catered by Crystal's Catering And More.

We were honored to hear from Dr. Kristina Boone, dean of the SIU College of Agricultural, Life, and Physical Sciences , who shared exciting updates and momentum happening across the college. Her presentation highlighted innovation, opportunity and the continued impact of SIU’s academic community.

During the meeting, the club also announced a special Fashionable Scholarship Fundraiser — a collection of stylish SIU Women’s Club shirts designed to be wearable, meaningful and supportive of the students we serve. Each piece represents the strength of our club while directly benefiting the Women’s Club scholarship fund. Last day to order: March 23, 2026.

Last night in Carbondale, the Community Service Interest Group proudly led the SIU Women’s Club team in the Coldest Night of the Year walk, joining people across the country who stepped out in solidarity to support individuals and families experiencing hurt, hunger and homelessness.

Through their leadership and outreach, 13 generous donors helped raise $775 in support of the Carbondale Warming Center. Vallerie Wallin and Pam Altman walked on behalf of the SIU Women’s Club Community Service Interest Group.

By walking and fundraising, the Community Service Interest Group helped ensure that vital local resources remain available to our neighbors who need them most.

The SIU Women’s Club is accepting applications for its 2026 undergraduate scholarships. Each year, these awards recognize students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, and a clear vision for their future.

Two $2,000 scholarships are available:
• Dorothy Morris Traditional Student Scholarship
• Joyce Guyon Non-Traditional Student Scholarship

Applicants must be on-campus SIU undergraduate students who are juniors or seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students must have completed at least 86 credit hours by the end of the spring semester, including a minimum of 24 hours at SIU. Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic performance, leadership experience, career goals, financial need, and references.

A heartfelt thank you to Olga for graciously hosting the SIU Women’s Club New Members’ Wine & Cheese Social on Dec. 4 in her beautiful home. Each year, Olga and the SIU Women’s Club board members create this intimate gathering to warmly welcome our newest members, and this year was no exception. Delicious treats, wonderful conversations, and plenty of laughter made for a memorable evening and the perfect start to the holiday season.

More than 50 members of the SIU Women’s Club gathered for our annual Afternoon Tea on Oct. 30, hosted by Mrs. Laura Mahony, First Lady of the SIU System. The Art Atrium at Dunn-Richmond was filled with conversation and the warmth of friendship as members caught up and welcomed new faces.

Mrs. Mahony shared an insightful update on the SIU System, reminding us of the exciting progress happening across the campuses. Guests enjoyed an elegant grazing table, beautifully catered by Debra K's Catering, complete with sweet and savory bites that were as delicious as they were artfully arranged.

It was a wonderful celebration of community, connection, and Saluki spirit.
