WILLIAMSON COUNTY NO REFUSAL WEEKEND – September 5th & 6th, 2026

We recognize the hazards and crashes often associated with drunk driving on roadways within Williamson County during holidays such as Labor Day. For this reason, this holiday weekend has been designated a “No Refusal Weekend”.

A two-day operational deployment will be conducted by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Division, aimed at reducing alcohol‑related crashes and incidents throughout the Labor Day weekend.

This deployment will focus specifically on enforcing Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) laws, with the goal of increasing roadway safety in Williamson County through proactive intervention and deterrence.

Plan ahead, designate a sober driver, or use a rideshare service.

Drive sober or get pulled over.

Media Release: Leander Police Investigate Vehicle Collision With CapMetro Train

LEANDER, Texas — August 29, 2026 — Just before 1 a.m. Saturday, August 29, Leander Police responded to a reported collision involving a CapMetro commuter train and a Jeep at the intersection of Hero Way and U.S. Highway 183.

The preliminary investigation indicates the Jeep failed to obey a traffic control signal and entered the train’s path, resulting in a collision.

The driver of the Jeep, a 45-year-old white male, was transported to a local hospital by Williamson County EMS as a precaution. No other injuries were reported.

The investigation remains ongoing.
