Part of my accreditation journey is doing a self assessment of my program and finding areas to improve. I’m not real big on nature and bugs but I’ll do anything for these kids. Today I attended the science workshop at the CPS school in the neighborhood to collect resources & ideas for my kids this summer.

Natural & Physical Environment: (Strong area) Educators must provide daily opportunities, both indoors and outdoors, to explore nature. This includes activities like planting seeds, caring for plants, watching insects, and playing with water, sand, and ramps.

Observation & Inquiry: (Could use improvement) Children are encouraged to observe, predict, and experiment using language, analysis, reasoning, and problem-solving.

Our real live caterpillars 🐛 have arrived!!!

🦋✨ This week our little learners are exploring the AMAZING life cycle of caterpillars and butterflies! 🐛➡️🦋

We are observing REAL caterpillars as they grow, form their chrysalis, and transform into beautiful butterflies right before our eyes! 🌿🔍 The children are learning patience, science, and the beauty of change through hands-on discovery.

🌟 DID YOU KNOW:
🐛 Caterpillars can eat 20x their body weight in one day!
🦋 Butterflies taste with their feet!
💤 Inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar completely transforms.
🌸 Butterflies help pollinate flowers and plants.

Our classrooms are filled with excitement, curiosity, and LOTS of butterfly conversations this week! 💛

Watching nature grow and change reminds us that even small beginnings can turn into something beautiful. 🦋✨
