Humtown Conventional & 3D printed sand cores and molds. Humtown is a third generation, family-owned company serving the foundry industry for more than 60 years.

With our unique hybrid capabilities, Humtown offers both conventional manufacturing (Humtown Products in Columbiana, OH) and 3D printing (Humtown Additive in Leetonia, OH), supplying the foundries of OEMs with even the most complex sand cores and molds. Our additive manufacturing technology has led Humtown into industries and applications that were never thought possible. First established as a pattern shop in 1959, Humtown has since grown to become the industry’s first conventional sand core and mold manufacturer to commercialize 3D sand printing, winning the National Association of Manufacturers 2020 Manufacturer of the Year.

Columbus Day is a reminder that progress begins with the willingness to go beyond what’s familiar. The spirit of discovery is about more than exploration, it’s about curiosity, courage, and the drive to push boundaries in pursuit of something greater. At Humtown, that same mindset inspires us to keep innovating, keep improving, and keep reaching for what’s next.

Happy Columbus Day, everyone!

Last week, we had the opportunity to celebrate the official dedication of YBI’s Tech Block Building Five as the Lamoncha Family Center for Advanced Manufacturing. For the Lamoncha family and the Humtown team, it was a meaningful moment more than a decade in the making.

In 2012, Mark Lamoncha came to YBI with an idea around 3D-printed sand cores and molds. From there, relationships with YBI, Youngstown State University, America Makes and others across the region helped create opportunities to explore the technology, learn from industry leaders and ultimately help advance additive manufacturing in the castings and forgings industry.

As Mark shared during the dedication, “the fabric of success is never woven with a single thread.”

That idea reflects what this recognition means to us. Humtown’s story may span three generations, but it has been shaped by industrial athletes, partners, educators, entrepreneurs and a community willing to collaborate and push manufacturing forward.

The building may carry the Lamoncha name, but its future is about the people who will learn, collaborate, innovate and build what comes next inside it.

We’re incredibly grateful to YBI for the role they’ve played in helping bring people, ideas and opportunities together here in the Mahoning Valley!

It’s not too late to join us for the final Metal Casting Last Tactical Mile Seminar Series!

Next week, the two-year series comes to an end in Tallmadge, Ohio, and Humtown is excited to be part of the final stop right here in our backyard.

On October 13 from 4–6 p.m., Humtown Additive will open its doors for a guided tour and open house, giving attendees a firsthand look at our additive manufacturing capabilities and how 3D-printed sand molds and cores are supporting the future of metal casting.

Then on October 14, the final Last Tactical Mile seminar brings together expert speakers and industry leaders for conversations around additive manufacturing, metal casting, and strengthening the domestic supply chain.

There’s still time to register, save your seat and join us for one last Last Tactical Mile.

You can register here: https://hubs.ly/Q04zgCXj0.

Manufacturing is changing, and so are the opportunities that come with it.

Manufacturing Day is a chance to celebrate that progress and inspire the next generation to see what’s possible in the industry. By 2033, U.S. manufacturers will need to fill 3.8 million jobs, with as many as 1.9 million potentially going unfilled.

At Humtown, we see the future taking shape every day through technologies like 3D sand printing and the people pushing manufacturing forward. Here’s to the makers, problem-solvers and innovators of today, and those who will build what comes next.

Happy !

Today, YBI officially dedicates Tech Block Building Five as the Lamoncha Family Center for Advanced Manufacturing, an incredible honor for the Lamoncha family and a meaningful moment for manufacturing in the Mahoning Valley.

As a family-owned, third-generation business, Humtown’s story has always been rooted in the Mahoning Valley. Having the Lamoncha family name on this center is a meaningful honor, but what makes it especially exciting is what the space represents for the future of manufacturing, innovation and collaboration in our community.

Mark Lamoncha shared, “We are eternally grateful for the honor of having this building named the Lamoncha Family Center for Advanced Manufacturing. We believe the fabric of success is never woven with a single thread. Our hope is that this building will not just be known for who we are or where we've been, but for where we're going: a place where community comes together in unity and innovation, and where we build the future together."

Brandon Lamoncha added, “It is truly an honor to have the YBI and the local additive community recognize the Lamoncha family for the small contributions we have made in the greater community. We know this is just the beginning of a long lasting legacy of the valley and all of the shoulders we stand on that have helped us get where we are today!"

We’re incredibly grateful to YBI, the local additive manufacturing community and everyone who has played a role in this journey. More to come from today’s dedication ceremony!

Thinking about bringing 3D sand printing in-house? It’s a major strategic decision, and there’s a lot to consider before investing in a machine.

In this Last Tactical Mile session, our Director of Additive Manufacturing, Brandon Lamoncha, breaks down the key factors foundries should evaluate when deciding whether to purchase a 3D sand printer or source printed molds and cores. From operational and financial considerations to production needs, Brandon shares a practical framework for determining which path makes the most sense for your foundry.

And if you’d like to continue the conversation in person, Brandon will also be speaking at the final Metal Casting Last Tactical Mile Seminar Series event in Tallmadge, Ohio, on October 14!

“On 9/11, our Nation saw the face of evil. Yet on that awful day, we also witnessed something distinctly American.”
– George W. Bush

September 11, 2001 is a day we will never forget.

Today, on Patriot Day, we remember the lives lost and honor the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday heroes who answered the call. In the face of unimaginable tragedy, our nation came together resilient, united and strong.

Last week, the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber brought together business and community leaders from across the Mahoning Valley for its annual Salute to Business breakfast.

The event recognized this year’s Salute to Business award recipients and celebrated the individuals, businesses and organizations helping move the Valley forward. Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees!

The program also featured a conversation with Ryan Augsburger, president of The Ohio Manufacturers' Association, and Humtown CEO Mark Lamoncha on manufacturing, entrepreneurship and business growth in Ohio, along with special recognition of Mark as the 2026 National Small Business Person of the Year.

Thank you to the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber for another great event and for continuing to celebrate and support the people driving our region forward.

Congratulations to the Youngstown State University American Foundry Society team on winning Cast in Steel and taking home the $25,000 grand prize!

YSU’s George Washington-inspired sword earned the team the Grand Prize. There’s something especially fitting about a team from the Steel Valley rising to the top of a national competition built around steel, casting and the next generation of manufacturing talent.

Watch the finale to see the competition unfold and meet the YSU students behind the championship sword: https://hubs.ly/Q04tdNPW0.

Congratulations to the entire team on an incredible accomplishment. Go Penguins! 🐧
