The entire vision for this branding session was CHAOS TO CALM.

And if you’ve ever worked a wedding day, you get it.

Timelines. Texts. Family photo lists. Changes happening on the fly. Notes everywhere. A phone in one hand, a camera in the other and enough gear hanging off your body to make your shoulders hurt just looking at it.

Jennie knows that chaos really well as a wedding photographer.

So when we planned these images for colara.co , I wanted to actually show the problem that inspired what she’s building.

The desk got messy. The sticky notes piled up. We photographed the timelines, the phone, the gear and all the little moving pieces wedding professionals are constantly trying to keep straight.

Then we shifted into the calm.

Cleaner space. Fewer moving pieces. Room to breathe.

And honestly, I think that part tells more than just the story of a business.

Sometimes obedience to the Lord feels a whole lot like surrendering the chaos before you can see the calm.

Saying yes to something that feels crazy.

Building before you have every answer.

Trusting that if He called you to it, He’ll keep meeting you in it.

That kind of crazy obedience is something I have a LOT of respect for, because I know how much faith it takes to keep moving when the whole picture isn’t clear yet.

Colara came out of Jennie’s real experience in the wedding industry, but it also came from being willing to build something bigger than the work already in front of her.

That’s what I love about these images.

They tell the story of the problem, the solution and the surrender behind it.

Sometimes you need the beautiful headshot.

Sometimes you need to throw a pile of crumpled sticky notes in the air.

Both can tell the story. 🤍

POV: Headshots shouldn’t be BORING!

Of course we’re going to get the pretty headshot where you’re smiling at the camera.

But I also want the photos that make you say, “Wait… can we try something?”

Those are usually my favorites.

This branding session had plenty of the traditional images she’ll need for her website and business, but we also made room to PLAY.

We threw papers in the air, pulled out the sunglasses, moved around, tried fun ideas and created images that feel a whole lot more interesting than standing in the same spot smiling at the camera for an hour.

And THAT is what I want a branding session to feel like.

You still need the professional images, obviously. But you also need photos that make someone stop scrolling because they’re interesting, different and actually fun to look at.

Those are the images I get excited about creating.

The best branding photos usually happen when we stop trying to make everything look perfect and give ourselves permission to have a little fun.

Sometimes getting the shot means lying on the studio floor while we figure out how to balance a camera on your shoe.
