Over the last two weeks, Northeast Iowa RC&D Digital Media Marketing Coordinator Austin and WCDT Project Coordinator Maddie visited and filmed at five area museums as part of a Travel Iowa-funded video promotion project.
Participating museums included:
- St. Lucas German American Museum, Library and Family History Center
- Bily Clocks Museum & Antonin Dvorak Exhibit
- Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum - Burr Oak, Iowa
- Turkey River Cultural Center
- Porter House Museum

Today was Decorah Community School District's 2nd STEM Connect Day. Over 20 businesses and groups joined to promote STEM in their workplaces with interactive activities!

Through a partnership with Northeast Iowa Community College and Decorah High School, Winneshiek County Development and Tourism helps coordinate and support this event.

WCDT is proud to partner with NICC Business and Community Solutions and Decorah Community School District to bring students into the Decorah business community. Students enjoyed learning from business owners and employees from our six partner businesses: RUBAIYAT, Decorah Ace Stores, Sugar Bowl, Decorah Bank & Trust Co., Viking State Bank & Trust, and The Getup. We thank them for their commitment to our students and for keeping our community strong.

Yesterday, our building, including Winneshiek County Development and Tourism, the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce, and Visit Decorah, traveled to Calmar and Ossian to experience firsthand all that these communities have to offer. As the home of the only Visitor Center in Winneshiek County, it’s important that we can share a well-rounded picture of the entire county with visitors.

- We began at the Train Depot in City of Calmar and explored downtown, focusing on the variety of local businesses, including but not limited to, Euphoria Coffee - Calmar, The Smoky Dough, and Boss Tables.

- We enjoyed lunch at Bambinos, where many of us tried the famous Bino Burger.

- We stopped into Blooms on Main & Ossian Perk for coffee.

- We painted ceramics at Kollective Memories Boutique , a first for many in our group.

- We wrapped up at Carey’s Park in City of Ossian where we checked out the pavilion.

Head down to Calmar and Ossian next time you're in the area, you’ll be greeted by friendly people, guaranteed a good time, and you might even learn a thing or two!

This just in! Bluffton Resort & Bar now offers online kayak, canoe, and tube reservations to float the Upper Iowa River. Paddling is a great way to see some of the less-traveled places of Winneshiek County.

For 175 years, Greens' Sugar Bush has been continually operational right here in Winneshiek County. This Saturday, April 4th, will be their last pancake breakfast for the 2026 season. Consider heading out to Greens', it is absolutely worth your time!
