Enjoy some Labor Day History & have a safe & fun holiday.
🇺🇸 The first Labor Day celebration was held in New York City on September 5, 1882, with a parade organized by labor unions. More than 10,000 workers participated!
🛠️ Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894, officially recognizing the contributions and achievements of American workers.
👗 “No white after Labor Day” was never an official rule. It grew out of old-fashioned social customs and fashion etiquette. So yes, wear the white pants. The fashion police have the day off.
😉 🌭 Labor Day is considered the unofficial end of summer, which explains the collective urge to squeeze in one last barbecue, boat ride, patio drink, or cannonball into the lake. 🏈 Labor Day weekend traditionally signals the start of fall sports season, especially football. Summer clocks out and football clocks in.
💼 The holiday isn’t really about taking a break from work. It was created to celebrate workers and the contributions they make to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

Did you know the Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce got its start way back in 1968?

It all began with just 11 local business leaders who shared one big idea: our community is stronger when businesses work together. 🤝
58 years later, that idea is still at the heart of what we do!
Today, we’re proud to continue bringing businesses together, building connections, advocating for our business community and creating opportunities for businesses to thrive.
From 11 business leaders in 1968 to the thriving Chamber community we have today... that’s a pretty fun piece of Elk River history! ❤️

We typically meet on the 1st Wednesday of every month, but due to this being the 1st week of school, we bumped it to:
Wednesday Sept.8th from 9-10:30am at Station 1 Event Center in Zimmerman,
to allow those with school-aged kiddos to adjust to the logistics of the new school year.

BACK TO SCHOOL… CHAMBER STYLE!
🍎✏️It’s the 1st day of school for ISD 728, which means the buses are rolling, backpacks are bursting, parents are celebrating, kids are questioning why summer had to end… and Debbi & Ginger are apparently ready for their own first day of school - Chamber-style! 😂
As you head out today, SLOW DOWN and WATCH for school buses, kids walking, biking, and crossing streets. Give yourself a little extra time, keep those eyes peeled, and remember: getting everyone safely to school is the most important assignment of the day! 🚌🚸❤️
And as for Debbi & Ginger… well, let’s just say the Chamber has officially gone back to school, and we’re pretty sure they’re both hoping for extra credit & one of them has already been to the principal's office!😂

Did you know?
Ginger threw up Frankenberry cereal on her 1st Day of school in 4th grade, in front of everyone at the elementary school getting on their transfer busses. ((Nerves))🤷‍♀️

The Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for a part-time Member Services & Office Coordinator to help keep our office running smoothly, our members supported, and our many moving pieces organized.

This is a great fit for someone who likes helping people, keeping track of details, learning new systems, and being part of a fun, member-focused workplace where no two days are exactly the same.

This position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Director of Marketing & Events.

Thee networking event of the year happened MONDAY... and if you missed it, you definitely missed out!

What an incredible opportunity for our Chamber members to connect, collaborate, and grow! I saw business cards being exchanged, referrals being given, conversations turning into new opportunities, and business relationships being built right before our eyes. 🤝

The energy in the room was AMAZING! Three Chambers came together for one powerful afternoon of networking, connection, and collaboration; proving that when we work together, great things happen!

A huge thank you to Greenhaven Golf Course for helping make the day even more special with a delicious 3 course lunch!

New connections. New referrals. New opportunities. New relationships. And who knows what amazing things will come from the conversations started today!

Our recent Better Minds Better Businesses lunch, “47 Tabs Open! Attention and the Way We Work,” was a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn and reflect on how we manage our attention in an increasingly busy world!

Our sponsor, John Houlton, kicked things off with a quick introduction and shared why he feels it’s so important to support events like this and invest in our community. Missy and Rochelle from Peacetree gave us some valuable insight into their work and the resources they offer to support wellbeing and connection. A special thank you to Emily from Peacetree as well for bringing along so many of Peacetree’s resources for everyone to explore.

It was a meaningful and engaging lunch, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make it happen!
