Here’s a quick tip as we approach Q4: Prepare for demand before it arrives.

If the fourth quarter is a busy season for your business, now is the time to review what you’ll need to keep operations running smoothly.

For product-based businesses, check inventory levels and talk with suppliers about lead times and possible delays. For service-based businesses, think about your capacity: Do you have enough staff, equipment, technology, and time to meet increased demand?

Planning can help you avoid preventable disruptions during one of the busiest times of the year.

Start with our Q4 planning guide: https://oregonsbdc.org/small-business-tips-for-4th-quarter-planning

Then turn your ideas into action with confidential, no-cost, one-on-one advising from your local Oregon SBDC: https://oregonsbdc.org/find-your-center

Understanding your profit and loss statement (P&L) can help you make smarter decisions about your business finances.

A P&L statement shows your revenue, costs, expenses, and net profit or loss over a specific period of time. It can help you see where money is coming from, where it’s being spent, and whether your business is truly profitable.

Our blog breaks down how to read a profit and loss statement, what key terms mean, common mistakes that can hide your real numbers, and why your P&L should be reviewed alongside your cash flow statement and balance sheet.
