Back in December 2025, I had the opportunity to meet with then 25/26 WVHSRA Queen Katelin Fullen to begin discussing the design and her vision for the next set of West Virginia High School Rodeo Association Queen chaps.
Over the past several months, that vision has become a reality!
Iโm honored to share that the new Queen chaps, built by SKLS, are now being worn and showcased by our newly crowned Miss West Virginia High School Rodeo Queen 2026-2027 , Holli Huffman! It has been a privilege to design and build this set and contribute something that will travel with Holli as she represents West Virginia throughout the coming year - and for the future WV Queens to come!
Every set of Queen chaps tells a story. They represent countless hours of hand craftsmanship, details, and purpose. But even more importantly, they represent the young woman wearing them and the organization she proudly represents. It was a pleasure working on a piece that reflects both the tradition of rodeo and the pride of our great state of West Virginia:
-Appalachian Mountain Range depicted along each bottom leg
-WV state silhouettes on corner of each leg piece
-WV state symbols inside WV State
-New River Gorge back belt piece
-WV coloring on fringes, body, and decor pieces.
-WV wildflowers & Monarch butterflies depicted on yokes
-WV Hereford Hair-on-Hide shield accent
Congratulations again, Holli! I wish you an incredible year as you represent the WVHSRA, and I look forward to seeing all the places these go along with you.
Thank you to the West Virginia High School Rodeo Association for allowing me to be a small part of this tradition and for continuing to invest in the next generation of rodeo athletes.
