Today, the NFSA Minnesota Chapter partnered with the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) Minnesota Chapter with support from the Bloomington Fire Department for a live fire and fire sprinkler demonstration in Bloomington as part of Home Fire Sprinkler Week.

Attendees saw firsthand the dramatic difference fire sprinklers make during a home fire—showing how quickly fire can spread and how fast sprinklers can control a blaze before firefighters arrive.

Fire sprinklers save lives, reduce injuries, and give families valuable time to escape safely.

The Minnesota Chapter of NFSA's membership meeting is coming up this Wednesday, May 6 at the Mermaid Event Center in Mounds View, MN from 4:30 to 7 PM. We invite all sprinkler industry and fire service professionals as well as fire sprinkler advocates to join us! We'll have updates from the sprinkler industry, the MN legislative lobbyist, Sprinkler Fitters Local 417, and the State Fire Marshal, as well as engaging discussions that shape the direction and goals of our Chapter. A plated dinner will be served for in-person attendees, and a virtual option is offered for remote attendees. It's a great group, an informal gathering, and a wonderful opportunity to learn, network, and share. A dangerous combination is putting parts of the state under extreme wildfire risk:
• Gusty winds up to 25 to 35 mph
• Exceptionally dry vegetation
• Very low relative humidity

New today: some counties in eastern Minnesota have been upgraded from a Fire Weather Watch to a Red Flag Warning from noon to 8 p.m.

This means near-critical fire conditions are expected.

Even outside the warning area, all Minnesotans should do their part to reduce wildfire risk:
• Avoid any outdoor burning.
• Be cautious with equipment that could spark.
• Dispose of ci******es and other smoking materials properly.
• Report fires immediately.

It only takes one spark to start a wildfire. Let’s do our part to keep Minnesota safe.
