Reduction In Motion making sustainability possible Professional Trash Talkers | Changing the way you think about trash without breaking your budget.

It’s that time again — let’s talk trash (the smart way).

Before you watch, take a guess — Can you recycle this? ♻️

Every week, we break down everyday items that cause confusion at the bin. Whether you’re sorting at home, at work, or somewhere in between, we’re here to help you make the right call.

👉 Not sure about the answer? You’re not alone, and that’s why we’re doing this. Follow along each week as we unpack the dos and don’ts of recycling, one item at a time.

Join us behind the scenes. Sorting waste isn't glamorous, but it’s where the real insights happen.

Here we are diving into one of our audits; separating materials, tracking data, and helping clients get a clear picture of what’s really going in the trash. 💪🗑️

This International Plastic Free Day, let’s talk strategy rather than just swaps. Reducing plastic waste starts with understanding what materials you generate and where they go. Through waste audits and smart sourcing, organizations can choose options that are designed for composting, reuse, or recycling... and actually get diverted.

We help teams:
• Analyze waste streams
• Improve purchasing decisions
• Design systems that keep materials in circulation

Less plastic. Better systems. Real diversion.

Waste audits are like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're gunna get!

Well, today, we found a lot of leftover foods in a staff breakroom. Looks like an organics program to collect food scraps as compost may be on the list of recommendations!

Most multi-use buildings think they have a waste problem when what they actually have is a visibility problem.

When offices, retail, and food service all share one system, it’s easy for inefficiencies to hide:
📦 Recyclables ending up in landfill
🚫 Contamination driving up costs
🚛 Hauling schedules that don’t match real needs

A waste audit can identify all of these, and more.

It gives you a snapshot of what’s really happening-so you can reduce waste, cut costs, and design a system that actually works for every tenant.

Better data → better decisions → better outcomes.

Throwing it back to warmer weather on this sun-filled day.

Dock training with the Food Services team outside! 🌱🍴

We started with the basics: what belongs in the new compost bins. Then we headed outside to show exactly where those bins “live” on the dock - making sure there are no gaps between education and ex*****on.

A little birdy told us an amazing partner of ours is speaking at the Better Buildings & Better Plants today about their journey of “yesterday, today, and tomorrow” in waste strategy. They'll share the importance of establishing a vision statement before developing the recent waste hauler RFP to building a clear vision that prioritized reduced incineration and increased recycling to engage haulers as true partners. Then, they'll dig into some key steps for accountability once the contract is signed to ensure all stakeholders are held accountable through on going business reviews and data tracking.

Waste systems don’t improve on their own. People make them better.

You can design a strong process, but without buy-in and the right people involved, it won’t go far.

After 24 years, that is the lesson that stands out the most.

This work is not just about materials and data. It is about the people behind the system and how they engage with it every day.

We shared more reflections in our latest post.
