Brian Covey

Brian Covey Mortgage Executive | Soccer Pro, Soccer Dad | Family Man | Wealth Advisor | Speaker | Investor He believes in integration and health over all things.

How do you go from pro soccer player to VP of one of the largest mortgage companies in America – more importantly what did he learn along the way, the answer is A LOT! Once an Olympic USA Soccer Player, Brian quickly learned how to get "cut" and literally... get cut. Fitness and mindset became masteries for Brian very early as his career was affected by the 2007 market crash just years after his s

occer team days came to an end, right when he was raising toddlers with his wife Nicole. Brian has mastered the art of a growth mindset, the art of winning, and the art of staying fit. Brian is an executive at loanDepot, a proud father, an influencer, a top rated podcaster and, just simply, a fabulous soccer dad. He throws the suit down and coaches his daughters league with joy several times a week. It's Brian's mission with his new book, "Conversations with Covey", to highlight some of the most incredible stories he's gotten to share on his podcast, the Brian Covey Show. Its all about balance! Ever since Brian was a child he has had this instinctive urge for expansion and growth. “To me, the function and duty of a quality human being is the sincere and honest development of one's potential.”

Growing up in Memphis, TN his love for the sport of soccer led him to travel the world, compete at the highest levels & experience so much that has shaped him into the husband, dad & leader he is today. Today, Brian is a VP in the mortgage industry with loanDepot, one of the top 5 lenders in the country. He is still very passionate about being part of a championship team and equipping his team with the tools to excel, leadership development & leading change in the mortgage industry. Brian’s influencer outreach doesn’t stop there: he is also a member of the Forbes Real Estate Council & serves on various committees. What has given Brian the motivation & drive to become the powerhouse inspirational influencer he is today are a few basic tenants he lives by:

1. Be kind to others and put out positive energy to attract the right people
2. Always be a learner & addicted to growth through personal development
3. Be hungry and have hustle in your game, giving & sharing your talents and gifts with others
4. Surround yourself with great people / association matters
5. Be passionate about your vision and live your purpose today

Nobody tells you that the best version of your life may be quieter than you expected.

Fewer nights out.
Fewer opinions that matter.
Fewer people you feel the need to impress.

More time with your wife and kids.
More time taking care of your body.
More focus on meaningful work.
More peace with who you are becoming.

At some point, success stops being about being seen. It becomes about being present.

Building a strong family.
Doing work that matters.
Growing into the person God called you to be.

That chapter may look quieter from the outside.

But it feels a whole lot fuller on the inside.

123 days left in 2026.

You don’t need another goal.

You need a higher standard.

Stop negotiating with the things you already said mattered.

Your health.
Your family.
Your faith.
Your business.
Your future.

September starts tomorrow.

Four months is plenty of time to change your trajectory.

Raise the standard.
Then live it.

Be careful who gets a voice in your future.

Not everyone deserves a vote.

My good friend Ken Joslin wrote an entire book about this: The 14 Frequencies of Proximity.

Because proximity matters.

The right people will challenge you.
Raise your standards.
Tell you the truth.
And call more out of you.

“Iron sharpens iron.” Proverbs 27:17

Sometimes your next level doesn’t require more information.

It requires a different room.

Choose your circle wisely. 🔥

Some people are shaped by success.

Others are forged in the fire.

Michael Little turned adversity into an advantage.

16 years in the Navy. Building and leading successful businesses. And now using those experiences to serve and lead others at a high level.

Your hardest seasons don’t disqualify you.

They may be exactly what qualifies you for what’s next.

Great conversation with Mike on the podcast. 🎙️🔥

There’s a variable we don’t talk about enough when measuring success:

The Fulfillment Factor.

You can make a lot of money.

Build a great business.

Have the title.

Buy the house.

Hit the goals.

And still not really like your life.

So here’s a different question:

How much of your time is spent with people you actually want to be with, doing things you actually want to do?

That’s a different scorecard.

Success matters. I’m all for chasing big goals and winning.

But what’s the point of building an incredible life on paper if you don’t have the time, health, relationships, or freedom to enjoy it?

Success is what you achieve.

Fulfillment is how you feel about the life you built achieving it.

We need both.

Always a great day when you get to sit down with someone like Michael Little & have an epic convo

After serving 14 yrs in the Navy, he’s built successful business & teams in real estate, title, insurance. His story around tenacity forged through his own life’s struggles & experience are truly remarkable.

There’s a new chapter ahead as his speaking has taken off and working on a new book with our friends at Mission Driven Press - Brandbuildersgroup

Can’t wait to share this convo with you all and grateful we finally got to meet in person after all these years of supporting each other online and social. Shows the power of these platforms and opportunities that exist for you to build relationships

Check out his books and TedX talk now.

PS: we’ve both been heavily influenced, mentored and coached by some of the same people - shout out to Coach Micheal Burt, René Rodriguez , Ben Newman & Rory Vaden | Personal Brand Strategist

A leadership title doesn’t make you a leader.

This one might sting…

I’ve talked with people recently who were recruited onto teams and haven’t had a meaningful conversation with their “leader” in 10 months.

10 MONTHS!

No real check-in.
No conversation about where they’re winning.
Where they’re struggling.
What they want next.
Or how life is going outside of work.

That’s not leadership.

On our team, we do monthly reviews. We check in. Most days, we just pick up the phone and talk. I love when it leads into deeper coaching convos & we really talk about what matters to that teammate. Some days it’s an escalation or help solving a problem or prepping for a conversation or presentation…

Yes, production matters.

But the PERSON matters more.

Because if someone looks back after years of working with you and all you can point to is how many loans they closed or how much money they made…

I think we failed them.

Leadership is a responsibility.

Not a title.

Part 1 of 3.

Your identity drives your decisions.

Your principles.
Your values.
Your standards.

They determine what you say yes to, what you say no to, and who you allow around you.

Those decisions may seem small in the moment, but they stack up.

Eventually, they become your life.

Great conversation with Trent Shelton | Keynote Speaker on the podcast about a topic we don’t talk about enough.
