November 3rd is National Sandwich Day, and it's celebrated on the birthday of John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, who was born on November 3, 1718!

Legend has it that John was so busy playing cards that he didn't want to stop for a meal. Instead, he asked for meat to be placed between two slices of bread so he could eat without leaving the game. And just like that, the sandwich became famous! (Well, that's the story, anyway! 😉)

From PB&J to grilled cheese, turkey clubs to classic BLTs, there's a sandwich for everyone!

🎃👻 HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM CARD MY YARD GEORGETOWN! 👻🎃

Before you head out for trick-or-treating, here’s a little Halloween history! 🕸️🧡

🧙‍♀️ Did you know Halloween dates back more than 2,000 years?

🎃 It all started with Samhain! The ancient Celtic festival of Samhain began in Ireland and other parts of Celtic Europe, marking the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter. The Celts celebrated their new year on November 1.

🔥 October 31 was believed to be a magical night! The Celts believed the boundary between the living and the dead became blurred. They lit large bonfires, wore animal skins and masks, and left food offerings in hopes of confusing, appeasing, or protecting themselves from roaming spirits.

⛪Halloween evolved over time. In the 8th century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as All Saints' Day, a day honoring saints and martyrs. The evening before became known as All Hallows' Eve, eventually giving us the name Halloween!

From ancient bonfires to today's costumes, candy, and neighborhood celebrations, Halloween has quite a history! 🧡🍬

Love it or leave it, candy corn is an iconic tri-colored Halloween treat! 🎃

Did you know? 🤔

🍬 Candy corn was created in the 1880s by George Renninger of the Wunderle Candy Company.

🐓 It was originally marketed as “Chicken Feed” and sold in boxes featuring a rooster!

🍭 Mass production began in 1898, and by around the 1950s, candy corn had become a Halloween staple.
