Maternal mental health is being seen!!!

Maternal Matters Favored is honored to be recognized by the Orange County Mayor’s Office for our 4th Annual Maternal Mental Health Awareness Weekend and for the work we are doing to support mothers and families.

Through programs like T.H.R.I.V.E., we remain committed to increasing awareness, early identification, and access to the care and resources mothers deserve.

We are grateful to community leaders, including Orange County Mayor Deputy Chief of Staff Carol Burkett, and for their continued support of maternal mental health and the families we serve.

We showed up for maternal wellness and left with a dance party. This is how change feels. 🎶💃🏿

Yesterday’s Flagler County Maternal Wellness Fair was all heart. With meaningful conversations, practical resources, and a whole lot of joy. When community comes together like this, hope is louder than fear, and healing becomes a celebration.🎉🥰

Thank you to every mom, caregiver, partner, volunteer, and supporter who showed up, shared space, and brought the energy. Let’s keep that momentum moving forward.✅️💯

Yesterday, I along with 20 something other community leaders throughout Flagler and Volusia Counties sat down and started to pull back the layers of several yrs of collected data. The mission of this phase was to determine the most critical needs citizens are facing. Next phase- determine the best means to enhance the wellbeing of the effected populations.

*Remember, you cannot affect change if you're not in the room...

I’m grateful for the invite to speak at the Village People Morning Mixer, hosted by Flagler Cares, where I presented on the intersection of maternal mental health and co-occurring disorders — one of the most urgent yet under-addressed challenges facing families today.🌸

My work in addiction counseling and maternal wellness has shown me that compounded trauma, substance use, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) rarely exist in isolation. They require integrated clinical care and comprehensive wraparound support that address the whole person — and the environment that surrounds them.

Research shows that up to 60% of mothers with substance use disorders also experience co-occurring depression or anxiety, underscoring the critical need for trauma-informed, holistic approaches that truly meet families where they are.

This mission is at the heart of Maternal Matters Favored, which was proud to serve as the Breakfast Sponsor for this month’s event. Through thoughtful programs and partnerships, we’re turning awareness into action — creating pathways that empower mothers, strengthen families, and support lasting recovery. 💜

A special thank-you to Latricia’s Bakery Boutique, whose cheesecake parfaits brought joy and sweetness to the morning! She's 1 of the best pastry chefs in Flagler County! 🍰✨
