One of the world’s largest law firms is building its own AI infrastructure—and the reasoning extends well beyond performance.

Greater control over sensitive data, model selection, operating costs and future vendor dependencies can materially change the AI business case. Not every organization needs private AI infrastructure, but every organization should deliberately decide where its most valuable data belongs.

AI strategy is also a placement strategy.

Core network infrastructure cannot be treated like background equipment.

Cisco has released fixes for multiple IOS XR vulnerabilities, including two rated critical. Cisco reports no known active exploitation. Affected organizations should identify exposed systems, prioritize updates and validate the security of their management paths.

The next phase of workplace AI will not be measured by how many features appear in a meeting application.

It will be measured by whether technology helps employees collaborate more naturally, serve customers more effectively and make physical and digital workplaces operate as one environment.

That practical focus will take center stage at WebexOne 2026.

AI’s appetite for bandwidth is forcing another major leap in network performance.

The industry is already moving toward 1.6-terabit Ethernet and next-generation coherent optics to connect increasingly powerful AI systems. Faster processors alone cannot solve the infrastructure challenge. Data must also move between them without becoming the bottleneck.

The AI race is increasingly a network race.

Work on 1.6 terabit network connectivity began in 2020 and became a formal IEEE study group in 2021, before AI was the industry's dominant discussion point. That work became the IEEE P802.3dj Task Force, which has been building out the specifications that are now in the balloting and formal review p...

Your security tools may protect the corporate device. Attackers know that—which is why they’re calling employees on their personal phones.

New campaigns are combining convincing IT impersonation, stolen authentication sessions and Microsoft Graph API access to quietly locate and extract valuable company data.

The device may be personal. The consequences are not.

Threat actors are leveraging Graph API to identify lucrative targets, then passing their access to extortion groups like ShinyHunters.

The biggest AI mistake may not be moving too slowly. It may be cutting too deeply.

predicts that by 2029, 30% of employees displaced by AI will need to be rehired—often at a higher cost. The real opportunity isn’t simply automation. It’s using AI to amplify human judgment, creativity, and expertise while redesigning work for greater value.

Two actively exploited vulnerabilities in an internet-facing remote access appliance deserve immediate attention.

SonicWall has disclosed two flaws affecting its SMA 1000 Series. CVE-2026-83548 carries a maximum CVSS score of 10.0 and can be exploited without authentication. A second vulnerability can allow OS command ex*****on. Researchers warn the two could potentially be chained together to compromise the appliance and provide a path into the internal network.

There are no workarounds. SonicWall has released fixes and is recommending customers update immediately and check affected systems for indicators of compromise.

If you have an SMA 1000 in your environment, this belongs near the top of today's priority list.

The company said there are no defensive workarounds for the flaws that include one enabling unauthenticated remote attacks; it has issued patches.

The infrastructure shortage isn't looking temporary.

CIO reports that lead times for some enterprise hardware have stretched from 30–45 days to 6, 12, or even 18 months, while memory shortages are driving substantial increases in server, storage, networking, and PC costs. AI demand from hyperscalers is a major factor, and analysts expect pressure to continue well into 2027.

For IT leaders, this changes planning. Capacity forecasting needs to happen earlier, existing infrastructure may need to run longer, alternative platforms and cloud capacity deserve consideration, and vendors should be involved well before the expected purchase date.

One statistic really puts it in perspective: if you need certain infrastructure 12 months from now, you may need to order it today.

Hyperscalers are driving equipment shortages across the board, with no relief in sight this year. But analysts, VARs, and vendors have advice on how to keep AI and other projects moving even if you have to wait for the gear you really want.
