Join Our Team – Mechanical Design Engineer - Space Exploration Projects

Ready to help shape the future of space exploration? Barrios Technology is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support NASA's next generation of exploration missions.
In this role, you will work alongside a talented team of engineers to analyze requirements, develop innovative design solutions, and support the design, development, testing, and implementation of mechanical systems and hardware for space exploration. Responsibilities include creating 3D CAD models, producing engineering drawings, performing dimensional tolerance analyses, conducting structural and thermal evaluations, and supporting designs with engineering calculations to ensure fit, function, strength, and thermal performance. You will also prepare technical documentation and present design solutions during engineering reviews.
Qualifications:
✔ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
✔ 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
✔ Experience with 3D CAD modeling and engineering drawings
✔ Knowledge of tolerance analysis, GD&T, structural and thermal analysis
✔ Strong communication and presentation skills
Preferred:
• NASA or aerospace development experience
• Experience with PTC Creo/Pro-Engineer
• Mechanisms or robotics design experience
• Familiarity with NASA/JSC engineering standards

Barrios is proud to spotlight a recent Emy Grant of $1,500 awarded to the Special Olympics Alabama (Madison County).

Thank you to Barrios employees Haas and Cherelle Tucker, whose volunteer efforts earned an Emy Grant for a nonprofit organization that is close to their hearts. Community Responsibility is a core Barrios value, and we are proud to recognize employees who continue to give back and make a positive impact in our communities.

Special Olympics of Alabama (Madison County) hosted track and field events for approximately 750 athletes on one day and 550 athletes on another. Athletes look forward to these events as an opportunity to showcase their training and skills while also enjoying fellowship with fellow athletes and volunteers.

Beyond providing a place for athletes to demonstrate their hard work and dedication, these events help build self-confidence in participants ranging from children as young as eight years old to adult athletes. They encourage each athlete to strive for their personal best while fostering a sense of achievement, inclusion, and community.

Yesterday, Barrios attended the NASA SUITS Industry Fair Day at Space Center Houston. NASA Spacesuit User Interface Technologies for Students (NASA SUITS) is a design challenge in which college students from across the country help design user interface solutions for future spaceflight needs. With NASA’s Artemis campaign, we are exploring the Moon for scientific discovery, technology advancement, and to learn how to live and work on another world as we prepare for human missions to Mars.

This event helped shape future space industry leaders and gave them the tools to take back to school and use in their future careers.
