The Tale of the Starfish
Walking along a beach after a massive storm, an older man noticed a young girl up ahead. She was constantly bending down, picking something up, and tossing it out into the waves.
As he got closer, he realized the beach was covered in thousands of washed-up starfish. He approached the girl and asked, "Why are you doing this? There are far too many starfish for you to make any real difference."
The girl didn't argue. Instead, she bent down, picked up another starfish, and gently threw it past the crashing surf. She turned to him and smiled:
"I made a difference to that one."
