Spent the afternoon at Dallas College -Cedar Valley as a Guest Clinician for Choral Day: “The Path to Artistry — From High School to Higher Education.”

Today, I led a vocal masterclass, talked music business, and got to share space with Dr. Reginal Wright (Baylor) , Professor Pamela Dawson (UTA) and an inspiring lineup of high school choir directors who are investing in their students every single day! To the young vocalists in the room — your sound, your potential, your willingness to be coached… it didn’t go unnoticed. The future is loud, and it’s in good hands. 🤍

Stepping away from the studio and stage for a year to pour into the students and program at DBU has been a gift, but the song He placed in me isn’t finished. I’ll be back in the studio this summer!

An inspiring day of music and mentorship is coming to Dallas College- Cedar Valley Campus.

Join us for Choral Day on Thursday, May 7, 2026, featuring special guest clinicians, intensive clinics, a vocal masterclass, and a Grand Finale Concert at 6:30 PM in the Performance Hall. This event highlights the journey from high school to higher education and celebrates the power of choral artistry.

Free admission for the public.

We look forward to welcoming the community for this special event!

As an artist and educator, Black History Month is not a calendar moment for me.

It is curriculum.
It is calling.
It is consecrated work.

It is lineage.
It is scholarship written in melanin.
It is harmony carried in the body.

That ocean shows up when I step into a classroom.
It shows up when I stand at a microphone.
It shows up when I mentor, when I correct, when I create.

Our history sings.
From spirituals to symphonies.
From hush harbors to concert halls.
From surviving to soaring.

I don’t just celebrate Black History MONTH
I speak.
I teach.
I sing.

Year round.

Black history is not something I reference.
It is something I carry.

✨ ART. TRUTH. LEGACY. ✨

This MLK Weekend, Art Songs & Activism reminded us that music has always been more than sound — it is witness, resistance, healing, and hope. Standing in sacred space, lifting the voices of Black composers across generations, and sharing this moment with such a present and engaged audience was deeply moving.

Thank you to everyone who gathered, listened, and leaned in. Thank you to the All Saints Episcopal Church Anti Racism Committee and leadership team for creating room for and I to render art that tells the truth and honors the legacy of Dr. King through beauty and courage.

May we continue to use our gifts not just to perform — but to serve, speak, and shape the world. 🎶✊🏾
