It started with three women.
A room.
A question already sharpened into accusation.

History calls it the Salem Witch Trials.
I call it a warning.

Fear is persuasive.
It sounds like protection.
It dresses itself in morality.
It convinces ordinary people they are doing the right thing.

More than 150 accused.
Nineteen hanged.
One pressed to death.
No flames — just rope, stone, and certainty.

As a witch, I do not romanticize this.
I feel it in my bones as a reminder:

When we let fear decide who is dangerous,
we become more dangerous than the thing we fear.

So today, I honor the names that were nearly erased.
I honor the ones who were poor, different, inconvenient.
I honor the truth that hysteria can look holy.

May we never confuse accusation with evidence.
May we never mistake panic for righteousness.
May we remember how easily a whisper can become a noose.
