Your logo is more than a graphic. It’s an opportunity to make your brand feel like something.

Think about the difference between seeing a logo on a screen and seeing it come to life in a physical space.

Color, depth, texture, and the way light hits a logo can completely change how people experience a brand.

That’s why the details matter. The goal isn’t just to put a logo on a wall. It’s to create something that feels intentional, reflects the brand, and makes the space more memorable.

This is one of our favorite ways to help a brand stand out: taking a two-dimensional design and giving it a whole new dimension.

Your brand deserves more than just a place on the wall.

One of the hardest parts of the sign industry isn’t making a sign.

It’s maintaining consistency when multiple vendors have touched the same property over many years.

A recent project reminded me of that.

The client provided a specific paint color, and our job was simple: hit that color. Not “close enough.” Not “what looks right.” The exact color specified.

That sounds straightforward until you realize that every company involved in a property may have different processes, suppliers, materials, and quality standards.

Over time, small deviations compound:

* A paint color is matched by eye instead of by code.
* A material gets substituted because it’s cheaper or faster.
* A font is “close enough.”
* An installer makes a field adjustment that isn’t documented.

None of these decisions seem significant individually. But years later, they’re often the reason a property feels inconsistent, even when nobody can immediately identify why.

The best projects happen when everyone involved—from architects and property managers to sign companies and contractors—treats details as important.

Because consistency isn’t an accident.

It’s the result of dozens of people making the decision to do things correctly, even when nobody would notice if they didn’t.

It’s amazing what a few simple materials can do when the details are right.

This sign for Consigned By Design is a great example. We built the sign using 3mm ACM with ½ thick acrylic lettering, creating a clean, dimensional look that stands out without being overdone.

The goal wasn’t to make the sign complicated. It was to make it clean, professional, and worthy of the brand it represents. And sometimes, the best way to appreciate those details is to get a little closer. 👀 🎥

Good signage doesnt have to be complicated. It just has to be done well.

How many ways can you hang a picture?? 💡 🤔 🖼️

Here is one you don’t run across very often, but is a unique fun way to turn a boring area into a hall of memories!

These were made of wooden frames with custom digitally printed black and white photos. Then we hung them with aircraft wire on a custom track. Aerospace, meet interior design! ✈️ 👋 ✍️

What are your thoughts about the technique?

Quality networking isn’t about collecting business cards—it’s about having real conversations with the right people.

Last week I was part of a group that hosted about 100 professionals at an Indianapolis Indians game. Even with the rain delay, the turnout was fantastic and the conversations were even better.

One of the things I enjoy most about events like this is getting out from behind emails and phone calls and building relationships face-to-face. There were a lot of thoughtful people in the room and plenty of valuable discussions throughout the evening.

A big thank you to Kevin Dolen for organizing the event, as well as all of the hosts who helped bring together such a great group of professionals.

Looking forward to the next one.

Monument sign appreciation post ✨

This is internally illuminated and is made out of aluminum with custom water jet cut out graphics.

This is for a senior living community in Fort Wayne, Indiana and matches much of the buildings materials and colors. It’s a great tie to the brand.

Signage should compliment the surrounding areas, not clash with them.

If your logo looks good on your screen but falls apart when it’s 8 feet wide, you don’t have a logo problem—you have an artwork problem.

One of the most common conversations we have in the sign industry is explaining the difference between vector and raster artwork. And it matters a lot more than most people realize.

Vector files (.ai, .eps, .svg, .pdf) can be scaled to virtually any size while staying razor sharp. That’s why they’re the standard for logos, dimensional signs, graphics, and large-format printing.

Raster files (.jpg, .png, .gif, etc.) are made up of pixels. They can look great on a website or social media post, but once you start enlarging them, those pixels become very obvious.

And now we’re seeing another challenge…

AI-generated images may look impressive at first, but most are still not production-ready for professional signage. The details are often inconsistent, edges aren’t truly vector-based, and logos generated by AI typically need to be manually redrawn and rebuilt as vector artwork before they can be fabricated correctly.

The technology is improving quickly, but for signs, graphics, and branded environments, human designers are still doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes.

Good signage starts with good artwork.

Great artwork saves time, money, and headaches.

Statement pieces should do more than fill a wall—they should reinforce your brand, attract attention, and create confidence before a single conversation happens. 🤝

This custom lobby sign was built with three distinct layers:

• A solid black back panel
• 31 individually installed wood slats
• A brushed aluminum logo mounted proudly on top

The combination of warm wood, dimensional depth, and premium materials creates a focal point that reflects the professionalism of the company behind it.

Great signage doesn’t just identify your business—it helps tell your story.

A recent warranty call reminded me why standing behind your work matters.

A church contacted us because the vinyl lettering on their entry doors was starting to chip and break. At first, we couldn’t determine the cause, but we assured them we’d investigate and take care of it.

When we arrived on-site, we found the issue. Small fibers from cleaning cloths had become trapped under the small serifs of the lettering. Over time, vigorous cleaning caused the cloth to catch those edges repeatedly, leading to the damage you see in the photo.

Technically, this wasn’t a product failure or a warranty issue. The lettering was performing as designed, and the damage was the result of ongoing cleaning practices.

But sometimes doing business isn’t about what you’re required to do—it’s about taking care of people.

We replaced the damaged lettering, explained what was happening, and provided recommendations to help prevent the issue in the future.

Not every problem is obvious from a phone call. Sometimes the real value comes from showing up, investigating, and helping customers find the root cause—even when it’s not your fault.

A great sign can be completely undermined by a poor installation.

You can have the perfect design, quality fabrication, and all the right branding elements — but if the install is sloppy, that’s what people notice. And once it’s mounted in a high-traffic public space, there are no second chances for a first impression.

These letters were fabricated well. The problem is the installation. Excess construction adhesive was pushed out around the letters and left visible instead of being properly cleaned and finished. 🤦‍♂️

In a park that sees hundreds of thousands of visitors in just a couple weekends, details like this matter. Quality installation isn’t the final step of a sign project — it’s part of the product itself.

Before your sign goes up, make sure you know exactly what level of craftsmanship you’re getting from the install team, not just the fabricator.
