June is National Men's Health Month and as HR professionals, it's a timely reminder to look at how our workplaces support the health of our male employees.

The data is worth paying attention to:
๐Ÿ”น Men are significantly less likely than women to seek routine medical care โ€” research consistently shows men visit doctors at notably lower rates, with some studies finding the gap as large as 33% fewer visits
๐Ÿ”น Heart disease, cancer, and unintentional injury are the top three causes of death among men โ€” with diabetes also ranking among the leading killers
๐Ÿ”น Men are significantly less likely to seek help for mental health challenges, often due to stigma

These aren't just personal issues. Untreated health conditions impact absenteeism, productivity, retention, and morale.

This month is a good opportunity to ask: Does our benefits package make it easy for employees to get preventive care? Are we creating a culture where men feel comfortable talking about their health โ€” including mental health?
