Welcome (officially), Abby Hanson! 🎉

After joining us as an intern in May 2025, Abby has transitioned into a full-time Project Analyst. She recently earned her Master of Public Affairs from Indiana University, building on her undergraduate studies in English and Anthropology from the University of Vermont.

We’re excited to continue working with Abby and appreciate the insight and dedication she brings to the team and our communities!

We’re excited to congratulate Kody Leach on his promotion to Project Manager within our community and economic development team. Since joining us nearly three years ago as an intern while attending Butler University, Kody has grown from Project Analyst to Senior Project Analyst, and now into this new role.

Yesterday’s Aim Mayor's Institute session with Mayor Brandon Sakbun and Mayor Stephanie Terry highlighted how they are breaking bureaucratic barriers and reimagining municipal development. Their insights on process mapping, internal coordination, and culture change sparked meaningful conversations on how cities can attract investment, raise wages, and grow population.

Our team at Civitas Strategies greatly appreciated the opportunity to sit alongside these community leaders.

Members of the Civitas team had a great time at Carmel’s State of the City on Monday! It was inspiring to hear from Mayor Sue Finkam and Jack Russell as they shared insights on Carmel’s continued growth and progress over the past year.

Mayor Finkam’s vision continues to guide the City of Carmel, Indiana, in an exciting direction, strengthening its reputation as one of the nation’s best places to live, work, and play.

Congratulations to John Duffy as well on his recognition from both the City and Aim for his dedication and hard work as the Director of Carmel Utilities.

Congratulations to Town Manager Andrew Klinger with the Town of Plainfield - Government for being presented with the Ivan H. Brinegar Municipal Management Award at the 2025 Aim Ideas Summit. This award honors an appointed municipal official with at least ten years of service who demonstrates exemplary leadership, a deep commitment to community, and serves as a role model for colleagues and citizens alike.

Since 2016, the Veridus Group has had the privilege to partner with Town Manager Klinger and the Town on a range of redevelopment and economic development initiatives. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support Plainfield’s continued growth under Town Manager Klinger’s leadership.

A new chapter is beginning for the Upland Public Library! The community came together on August 31st to break ground on the library’s expansion, a remodel that will double the building’s size while maintaining its one-story design. The new space will feature two meeting rooms, a children’s area, updated restrooms, an outdoor patio, and a refreshed classical-style exterior.
The project is part of the Main Street Mile Initiative’s first major building investment, chosen because of the library’s vital role as one of the most used libraries in Indiana on a per capita basis. Civitas is honored partner with 1846 Enterprises, Inc. to lead to the master planning process for Main Street Mile Initiative alongside HWC Engineering, Context Design, and CSO Architects.
