A few months ago, one of our caregivers had her sitter cancel at the last minute.

It was one of her first shifts with a new client, and she really didn’t want to cancel. She was trying to do the right thing for her client, but she also had her kids who needed her.

So I told her, “Bring them. I’ll watch them.”

And that’s exactly what we did. ❤️

For a few hours, her kids hung out with me and my husband while she went to work. There were snacks, sidewalk play, lots of laughing, and probably a little more chaos than either of us expected. 😂

But honestly, this is what I mean when I say I want Levi & Hill to be different.

Our caregivers have families, responsibilities, sick kids, childcare issues and real life happening outside of work. We expect them to show up for our clients—and I want us to show up for them, too.

Sometimes supporting your team looks like flexibility. Sometimes it looks like finding a solution. And sometimes it looks like two adults entertaining a couple of kids on the sidewalk so their mom can go take care of someone else. ❤️

I’m really proud of the kind of team we’re building.

PRO TIP:

Did you know that the #1 thing that you can do to prevent dementia is to treat hearing loss. It is a TREATABLE risk factor. Starting at age 50 you should be receiving hearing tests every 3-5 years. The early you get your hearing aids, the less likely you are to get dementia.

When we have hearing loss our brains are not taking as much in from the environment, causing our brains to shrink. Also, when we are unable to participate in conversation we begin to isolate and avoid social situations...leading to another risk factor!!

Correcting hearing loss as much as possible is the most modifiable (is that a word) thing that you can do to prevent dementia.

KEY WORD: Correcting

Make sure you actually get the hearing aids if they are recommended.

Final note: Costco does hearing aid tests. 😉😉

Our caregiver was spotted in the WILD!!

Reese's client was resting in the Costco cafe while she did the household shopping.

Yes - this is a real!!

Our caregivers are able to help with ALL of the things.

Want to get out of the house. Check.
Need a massive amount of toilet paper. Check.

Thank you Reese for being fabulous! You are such a great part of our team.

It's been MONTHS since we have posted on social media. Levi and Hill has been busy taking care of clients, hiring new caregivers.....and all of the normal, small-business things.

But today is the day that I am going to start posting again.

It's beautiful out in central Indiana. And I thought that the best way to celebrate was to post some puppy pictures. Who doesn't love a puppy?

Did you know you can go to a pet store and just hold puppies?

Anyways.... we would love to see a picture of your favorite pet! It doesn't have to be a pup.

....it's because they have you.

You are the one picking up the pieces, going to all the doctor appointments, ensuring they are eating meals, on clean dishes, and getting to bed at night on clean sheets.

I had a great relationship with my mom and enjoyed being around her, but when she got sick, the list got LONG. I was raising my own family, grinding in my career, and struggling with the grief that comes with all of these changes. It was a tough that I didn't know existed, and no one really discussed.

I opened this business to take care of your loved one - but just as important - take care of YOU. I've been there. It's lonely and overwhelming.

Let us partner with you and your family....so you can find some relief....and go back to being the daughter again.

Another member of our Next Shift nurse entrepreneur group!

Katie Mitchell Rouzer is the owner of Levi & Hill Care Group, providing personalized, concierge in-home care and support for individuals and families. Their services are designed around each person’s unique needs and include personal care, companionship, specialized support, and end-of-life doula services.

There are so many options when families begin looking for home care and other supportive services, and it can be difficult to know where to start or who to trust. One of the things I value most about our Next Shift group is knowing the people behind the businesses. We are nurses who have taken our experience and expertise in different directions, and through this group, we’ve had the opportunity to learn about one another’s work, share ideas and resources, and build trusted professional relationships.

That is also part of what I hope to do through Bridge & Bloom: help people discover resources they may not have known were available and connect with good and trustworthy people who are willing to meet them where they are.

Levi & Hill Care Group will be sharing information and resources in our Community Partner area at the Bridge & Bloom Launch & Open House on August 7, alongside other local organizations and businesses doing meaningful work in our community.

When I opened Levi and Hill I never imagined how inspired I would be by our caregivers on a daily basis.

Every single day I hear stories and I am in awe.

Most of them don't even realize they are going above and beyond .... it's just who they are ... and how they show up.

For our caregivers, it's just normal.

We would like to take a moment to introduce Dzenana, one of the incredible caregivers AND our new Caregiver Experience Specialist!!!

Dzenana spent 13 years working in public schools, primarily supporting special education students who required individualized care and assistance. She has also spent much of her life caring for family members with ongoing needs, further strengthening her passion for helping others.

In 2000, Dzenana immigrated to the United States with her parents and siblings after the war in Europe. They settled in Indiana, where they were able to rebuild their lives and create a new future.

Dzenana joined Levi and Hill Care Group in December 2025 and has quickly become a valued member of our team. Her kindness, patience, and dedication make a meaningful difference in the lives of the clients and families she serves.

She is married and the proud mother of four wonderful boys, and new grand baby! While life at home is busy, loud, and often chaotic, she wouldn't have it any other way. Caring for others—whether through her work, her family, or her community—has always been at the heart of who she is, and we are grateful to have her as part of Levi and Hill Care Group and starting her new role!!
