The Low Hanging Fruit - Social Media Posts
Many people use social media these days for marketing purposes and employees also use it to share pictures of their work areas. While this may seem harmless if there are safety violations in these pictures that could have a damaging effect on a business. It's recommended that businesses have a social media policy and share that with your employees. Review pictures that your marketing team wants to use to make sure proper PPE is being worn and there are no possible violations in the pictures. For more information on how Creative Risk Management Solutions can help your company or marketing team with content reviews please reach out to us. 4106395088 or [email protected]

The Low Hanging Fruit: Flexible Cords and Strain Relief
OSHA requires flexible cords to be provided with strain relief which will prevent pull from being directly transmitted to joints or terminal screws. This can be a very easy citation for an inspector to write should they come across it at your workplace. This includes extension cords as well as cords connected to tools/ equipment so these items should be checked regularly as part of your safety program.

The Low Hanging Fruit: Fall Protection Training
Falls are very common in the workplace and OSHA requires that employers provide training to any employees that might be exposed to fall hazards. In addition to providing training to the employees, employers must have a written certification of training which contains the employee(s) name, date(s) of training and the signature of the person who conducted the training or the employers' signature. This makes for a very easy citation for a compliance officer to issue if an employer does not provide the training AND have written documentation of the certification. Please reach out to Creative Risk Management Solutions for you organizations fall protection and other training and compliance needs.

The Low Hanging Fruit: Seatbelts and Restraint Devices.
If your equipment is equipped with seat belts or other restraint devices and they are not utilized this could create not only a hazard to the person(s) operating the equipment but also could lead to an OSHA citation. A common example of this is the seatbelt on a forklift or power industrial truck, if not being worn by the operator, a citation could be issued. Some companies are now making orange and other brightly colored seat belts and restraints, so it is easier to check if an operator is wearing one at a glance.

The Low Hanging Fruit: Personal Protective Equipment Provided by the Employer
OSHA requires that PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) be provided to the employee by the employer at no cost to the employee. PPE covers an array of equipment like safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, reflective vests, fall protection components and so on. While many employers do supply the required PPE you should always make sure to have an employee sign off on something to document that the PPE was issued to them as this may be needed in the event of an OSHA inspection or accident.
