California Society of Pediatric Dentistry - CSPD

California Society of Pediatric Dentistry - CSPD Our members serve as primary care providers for children from infancy through adolescence.

As a State Component of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, CSPD is the membership organization representing the specialty of pediatric dentistry in Calif. CSPD became a state component of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry in 1983 and is currently the largest state component of AAPD, comprising almost 10% of AAPD membership. CSPD maintains an active role in the AAPD with members serving over the years as AAPD presidents, committee chairpersons and members of the Board of Trustees. Our component is one of the most active and progressive in the nation.

Medi-Cal Dental funding has been protected for another year in the new state budget!!! The proposed cuts are now delayed until July 1, 2027. This preserves the current Medi-Cal dental reimbursement rate levels as well as dental benefits for undocumented residents. But the hard work isn't over, we will continue to fight to prevent Medi-Cal dental cuts!

As expected, the Governor’s budget revision did not restore Proposition 56 funding. The next 2–3 weeks will involve negotiations in the Senate and Assembly, with continued efforts to advocate for its inclusion in the final budget.

Chad, our CSPD Lobbyist, is actively representing our interests in Sacramento, meeting with key stakeholders.

We will likely be sending representatives to Sacramento in the coming weeks to ensure our position is clearly heard.

While the outcome remains uncertain, we will continue to advocate strongly and consistently throughout this process.
