There’s one simple decision that way too many business owners get wrong:

Is this person a contractor… or an employee?

And no … it’s not just about what you call them.
It’s about how you classify, pay, and manage them, legally.

Here’s the real difference (and why it matters more than you think):

✅ Contractor (1099):
▪️Works independently
▪️Sets their own hours
▪️Has control over how the work gets done
▪️Typically uses their own tools and systems

✅ Employee (W-2):
▪️You control when, how, and where they work
▪️You provide the tools and structure
▪️You’re responsible for payroll taxes, benefits, and compliance

If you treat a contractor like an employee but don’t handle the paperwork and taxes accordingly?
