You’ve heard people say you need to “post more” on social media… but what are you actually supposed to post?

For our October Professional Development meeting, we’re taking a different approach to social media. This isn’t about learning another trend or leaving with a list of 50 content ideas you’ll never use. You’re going to build something you can actually take back to your business and use.

Join us for The Content Era with our local marketing expert, Rylie Stiles.

During this hands-on session, Rylie will walk us through:
✔️ The different types of posts and the purpose behind them
✔️ How the content funnel works
✔️ How to build your own content grid around what you want your business to be known for
✔️ The three jobs your content should be doing: get you found, build trust, and get the business

The goal? You leave with more than information. You leave knowing what you want to talk about, why you’re talking about it, and how it connects back to your business.

📣 A quick reminder for this week, we are NOT meeting at Reno’s North!

Instead, 517 Professionals is heading out into the community to support Ashley Crosser and Highfields at their Strengthening Families Fundraising Breakfast.

If you signed up to join us, we’ll see you there! Breakfast runs from 8:00–9:00 AM, and we’re planning to arrive around 7:50 AM so we can grab our table and be ready for the program to begin right at 8.

We’ll see you back next week for our Professional Development meeting with Rylie Stiles, who will be helping us tackle social media in a way that feels more attainable AND actionable.

We’re not just going to talk about social media we’re going to take action, move forward, and implement what we learn.

What a fun start to the day we had on this beautiful fall morning! 🍂🍁There was a lot of energy in the room today! We all collaborated on networking groups and events we attend. We are going to create a master list to be able to fill our calendars with more fun meetings and events to meet people! Of course we will always know where home is!🏡 Next week we are supporting Ashley Crosser and Highfields at their annual breakfast! 🥞 See you back on the 21st!

On Wednesday, October 7, we’re switching things up at 517 Professionals. We’ll break into smaller groups to connect more intentionally while working together to create a Master Greater Lansing Networking Group List.

So many of us belong to multiple networking groups, have visited groups in the past, or know about opportunities others may have never heard of. We’re putting all of that knowledge in ONE place!

We’ll be collecting details like:
• Group name + contact person
• When and where they meet
• How often they meet
• Membership structure + cost
• Industries/categories represented
• And more!

The goal: Leave with a resource that makes it easier to find networking opportunities throughout Greater Lansing, whether you're looking to expand your network, try something new, or your category happens to be filled in another group.

Guests are welcome AND will receive access to the completed list! Can't attend but want the resource? Send us a message and we'd be happy to share it once it's complete.

October is almost here, and we have a lot to look forward to at 517 Professionals!

First, a quick reminder: There are NO meetings this week September 23 or next Wednesday, September 30. Use the break to get those Member-to-Members in, grab coffee or drinks with someone you haven’t connected with lately, and keep building those relationships!

Then we’re BACK in October with three very different meetings:

OCTOBER 7 | CONNECT + CREATE
We’re bringing back our roundtable-style meeting, and this month we’re creating something we can ALL use: a Master Lansing Area Networking List!

So many of us are involved in different networking groups, chambers, organizations, events, and communities throughout the Greater Lansing area. The more we know about what’s out there, the more opportunities we have to make connections, meet new people, and grow our networks.

Come ready to share the groups you know and help us build a resource we can all walk away with!

OCTOBER 14 | COMMUNITY SUPPORT
We will NOT be meeting at Reno’s as usual this week!

OCTOBER 21 | PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
We’re excited to welcome Rylie Stiles to lead our October Professional Development session!

Social media is always changing, and whether you post every day or struggle to post at all, there’s always something we can improve. Rylie will be helping us look at how to dial in our messaging, create content that feels authentic to our brands, get out of our heads, and make social media feel a little more FUN without letting it take over our lives.

And that’s one of the things that makes 517 Professionals different.

We don't have the exact same meeting every single week. We rotate between Connect + Create, Expert Member, and Professional Development to keep things fresh, useful, and focused on helping our members become better business owners, connectors, and community leaders.
